About this Cook
Just another Italian American from New York, currently living in the West. I grew up in the kitchen and still love to cook.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook my family's traditional ragu. I also really enjoy making prawn chips.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking with my mom. We are an unbeatable commando cooking team. I especially like making pies with her. She is the Pie Queen and I am her apprentice.
My cooking triumphs
Last year I hijacked the family Thanksgiving and went gourmet. They all said it was the best holiday meal EVER. In a family of perfectionists, that's high praise. My spiced butternut squash soup brought down the house.
My cooking tragedies
When I moved to the West, I had to learn how to bake at high altitude. Once I made three cakes for a friend's birthday. NONE turned out. I'd asked several reputable cooks for tips, I tried the tips and my cakes still wouldn't rise properly.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts
Works exactly as instructions read, a rarity. Truly a healthy and delicious way to enjoy brussels sprouts! Excellent. I'd add that it works best with smaller brussels sprouts - the outer leaves have the flavor and they often come off when attempting to bite or cut the sprout. Bite sized sprouts are better!

Panna Cotta
Excellent and very easy to make. I added my vanilla right at the end, though next time I will use a vanilla pod for a stronger flavor.

Zucchini Pancakes
Very easy to make and a wonderful savory pancake. I served these for dinner with a hearty soup. I recommend topping them with sour cream.
