Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
this recipe was oustanding! I was little thrown by the 10oz of alfredo sauce but it was good. I felt it was a little runny at first but as it cooled it thickened. Next time I think I would use a little less of the sauce, a little more parm cheese and maybe a little fontina would be good. I have a friend that puts sauteed red onions in her dip and I really like that too. But this recipe was great as is-I couldn't stop eating it!

Sugar Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
GREAT RECIPE. I made it for Christmas treats to send to family and everyone loved it! Some said that they thought it was bought from a specialty store! I made them again for New Year's Eve and had more people demanding the recipe. I myself am addicted. I do make substitutions. I follow the suggestion for vanilla instead of water and I also add in some nutmeg- not much (1/4 tsp or so). This has begun a new tradition.

Yellow Pound Cake

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
excellent! I skimmed the reviews and followed suggestions and it turned out great! I used halved the butter, doubled the vanilla, added a little bit more sugar, added a little cream with the milk. It's absolutely perfect! Reminds me of angel food cake. I served it up with pureed fruit and fresh whipped cream. it was just great!

Meatball Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
I didn't do the sandwich ( I plan on trying that eventually) but just used the meatball recipe for spaghetti. Very slight changes: I used ground turkey, added about a tablespoon more cheese and I put a little oil in a pan and sauteed them then added the sauce after 20+ min and let them simmer 10 min more. They were very tasty!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
Absolutely perfect! This recipe has given me the know-how and confidence to do my own cream of chicken and chicken stock! This taste exactly how a pot pie should taste. I used the water that I boiled the chicken in instead of opening up chicken broth- it was so very flavorful. Also, I'm dealing with a dairy allergy so I used half bacon grease and half non dairy margarine for the base of the rue. Then I used soy milk for the milk. Also, I used an empanada dough I have (and love) for the crust and it turned out perfect. This is going to be a staple on the cold days menu in our house! I will even serve this when entertaining!

Homemade Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
Finally- a nice granola bar recipe. I did make a lot of substitutions but I think the oats, peanut butter and brown sugar is the perfect base. I used honey instead of corn syrup, and it was fantastic! I think that possibly cooking them down first would help them set better. I used dairy free semi sweet bakers chocolate, sweetened coconut and a mix of pecans and walnuts instead of any other things. They were delicious and my picky husband loves them!. I recently tried them in a 9X13 instead of an 8X8 and I liked the results. A little more crispy. 325 for 20min

Spiced Pecans

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
Just perfect! They're so addicting! Everyone expects them for the holidays now and they're gone in a flash. Because of some food allergies I tried another recipe that just uses butter instead of egg whites- what a disappointment. These are the best ever.

Spiced Pecans

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
These are okay. The seasoning is okay, needs a dash of salt. The egg white recipe is much better. The nuts are not that crunchy here and the sugar is just sugar. They're a bit messier to eat too. If I was going to make spiced pecans again, I wouldn't use this recipe.

I don't know what I did wrong but mine came out runny and wouldn't set up. Tastes good though!

Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
A great recipe. I didn't do any wheat germ or anything, just the oats and then I added in pecans, walnuts and then did a mix of dried fruit and pumpkin and sunflower seeds at the end. I did mine about 325 for 30 min.

Easy with a clean and creamy taste. Oh so delicious. I layered with whipped cream and nilla wafers as well as the bananas. My favorite dessert.

Schwarma

great taste! I made my own pitas and made more of the "marinade" and used that for my base. Stuffed with lettuce on top and a drizzle of ranch. Delicious!

Grandmother's Pound Cake II

Reviewed: May 12, 2010
EXCELLENT. This is a fantastic recipe. I baked at 325 and it is the best pound cake I've ever had. I accidentally didn't measure my butter correctly and put 1/3 of what is called for and it turned out great :). Just can't go wrong here. Oh, I did put a dash of salt and vanilla.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2011
I made this last night. my first time making apple pie. perfect. my husband (who's mother and sisters are EXCELLENT cooks and bakers) does not like apple pie. he loved this. he gobbled up a large piece night and then came home for lunch and had a second piece! I did add a good teaspoon of cinnamon, a dash of vanilla and a dash of salt to the syrup. I poured the syrup over the apples before I covered the pie and did a piece of crust without the lattice (though it would have been so pretty). I was so touched by what the recipe author commented. so moving- thank you for sharing!! we used some green apples we found off a tree and they were very tart and worked very nicely!
