About this Cook
I love cooking! I'm a stay at home mom and also have a very picky eater husband. Trying to find things to please all three of us is a little difficult but also fun!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking anything for my daughter and finding interesting ways to incorporate vegetables into her meals. I also love cooking pasta dishes.
My cooking triumphs
Braided Egg Bread from this site is my crowning achievment in the kitchen. I also made the "breadstick cornucopia" for Thanksgiving which my family has been raving about for YEARS.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make pierogies from scratch for dinner one time and I didn't finish until 9pm. They tasted terrible and my husband was very cranky and upset and ate a hot pocket instead. It was a terrible disaster!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie
I thought all apple pies were the same; I was wrong. This one is truly different and the BEST I've ever had. My family devoured it. I feel lucky to have found it because I know it'll be a family tradition in my household for years to come. I didn't make a lattice because I don't feel comfortable doing that yet, so I just mixed the apples with the sugar mixture before pouring it into the crust, then topped with the remaining crust and cut slits like a usual pie. It was fantastic.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn
Makes a TON of really great carmel corn!! The only tip I would add is to use plain popcorn. I used movie theater butter popcorn because it's what I had in the pantry and I think that affected the taste a little. It was still really good, but it would be even better with plain popcorn as its base. Great recipe!!

Braided Egg Bread
This is an awesome bread!! It has such a light, sweet flavor. This was only my 2nd time trying to make a yeast bread and it turned out fine. I made two braided loaves and they were huge! I can't imagine how big it would be if you only made one loaf. The two loaves did not fit in the oven at the same time, so I put one in the fridge while the other was baking. I didn't know if that would harm the bread or not but it didn't. It turned out just like the other loaf that didn't go in the fridge beforehand. This is a fantastic recipe! This is a great starter recipe for yeast breads. I now have the confidence to try making other kinds of bread.
