Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2011
OMGolly! Incredible! I followed other reviewer's advice and marinated the meat (I used stew meat) in red wine - therefore skipped the white wine at the end of the steps. Browned the meat in olive oil instead of butter. Doubled the green onions. Used Beef Consomme because it's what I had on hand. Used fresh mushrooms (that I added at the same time I added the beef). I'm sure the recipe would have been just as yummy even without my changes -- I am just trying to clean out my pantry and use what I have on hand without making extra trips to the grocery store. Everyone loved -- I will definitely make again! Thanks for sharing Donna!

Crispy Rosemary Chicken and Fries

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
Everyone enjoyed this recipe. I didn't have the fresh herbs on hand, so used dried. Will definitely try again using fresh -- maybe then I'll have to up my rating to a 5!!!

Creamy Italian Dressing II

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
This is a basic, good creamy Italian dressing recipe. I will definitely make again.

Sausage Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
We really enjoyed this. I made it exactly as written with the exception of using fresh spinach and minced garlic from a jar. My grocery store had ground spicy Italian sausage, so I didn't have to mess with the membrane. Easy and Yum! What's not to like about that!!!

Savory Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
We loved this. I followed another reviewer's advice and seasoned the chicken with garlic powder and poultry seasoning -- also used meunster instead of cheddar. I used an entire box of Stove Top stuffing. I will definitely make this again and play with the ingredients to switch it up. Thanks for sharing!

Magnificent Cheesy Brown Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
We really enjoyed this. I was trying to use some veggies before they went bad, so I used yellow bell peppers, green onion and halved grape tomatoes. Like another reviewer, I cooked my rice in chicken broth. Then I just tossed it with the veggies and cheese, added some garlic powder and baked at 350 until my entree was done. I will definitely make again and probably continue to experiement with this basic recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Old Settlers' Baked Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
Yummy and different. An option would be to brown the beef, bacon and onion then mix everything together in a crockpot and cook all day on low.

O'Brian's Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
Everyone liked this, but next time I will follow other reviewer's advice and cut the butter in half. I will also mix the everything but the topping in a bowl before putting in the baking pan.

Golden Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
My husband loved these! I only had one can of golden mushroom, so I substituted cream of mushroom for the second and added a little bouillion granules. The onion taste was a little strong for the kiddos, though, so next time I'll either use less or try sauteing them first.

Salmon Fillets with Creamy Dill

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
Overall, this dish is tasty, however I wished I had heeded previous reviewers' advice and cut the sauce in half. Even with 1/2 the sauce, there will still be plenty to dip your veggies in! In addition, I think I will use a little less mustard. While we are mustard fans, the mustard flavor was a little overpowering on the salmon.

Herbed Pork Chops in Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
This was good, but pretty bland overall, so not really our kind of dish. The chops and onions had a really nice flavor, but the mushroom sauce was just blah. I think this could be really good if a little pizzazz is added to the sauce -- I may have to try again!

Incredible! My family and my neighbors (who came over for dinner) LOVED it! I used red potatoes and didn't peel first. Thanks for sharing!

Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
The flavor of this chicken was yummy, but a bit too much of the bread crumbs for my family so I'm giving it a "3". They loved it once they scraped the excess off! If you like the extra bread crumbs, you will love this! I will definitely make this again, but will probably cut the bread crumbs in half and won't spoon any extra over the chicken in the pan before baking. Thanks for sharing.

Roasted Lemon Herb Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
Simple and delicious! I used a combination of chicken breasts and legs, put them in a 13X9 inch pan, mixed up all the remaining ingredients and poured on top of the chicken. I cooked this in the oven using my convection roast setting, basting periodically with the juices in the pan. Everyone enjoyed -- Thanks for sharing!

This is so good! Great with yellow rice and a green vegetable or salad. My entire family loved it and there was nothing left over. I will definitely make this over and over.

Southwest Summer Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
These pork chops are so simple and delicious! I used very thick (1 1/2 inch) chops and grilled them. They did turn out a little dry -- maybe I need to check the accuracy of my meat thermometer!

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
I modified recipe for 1/2 the batch to use some cranberries I had leftover. I boiled the cranberries until they started to pop then folded them into the batter. I also sprinkled cinnamon sugar on the top of the muffins with the cranberries. Yum!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2008
This is a 5 star simple comfort food. Nothing complicated, but my entire family of five loved it (which makes it worth 5 stars in my book)! I made the recipe EXACTLY as stated with the single exception of cutting my stew meat into smaller bite sized pieces. It doesn't make a lot (believe it when it says it serves 4), so next time I will probably double the recipe. Thanks for sharing!
