Crab Imperial II

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
I am not sure how other people are saying this is a dry dish. Mine was very moist when finished cooking. I had some issues with this dish but it did turn out that I liked it. This may just be MY tastebuds here, but to me, it tasted more like sardines then crab and I even used premium claw crab meat. here is where I said I liked it, I happen to enjoy sardines to so it wasn't that big a deal to me. Now, I don't know why I got that type of taste but honestly, it was not what I expected yet I still liked it. One other thing to note, people need to realize when it comes to spices like cayenne, that you need to ignore the recipe amount and put in what your heat level is. I saw lots of complaints about the heat level yet using the recipe, I could tell there was cayenne in it but it was not hot. Now I am a hot freak so my tolerance for spicy foods are much greater than normal folks. I just wanted to mention that so that people keep that in mind when they are cooking recipes. To me, this also goes along with salt and pepper. What is salty to one person can be bland to another, so keep that in mind to, when you are rating these recipes.

Potato Curry

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
Good Curry flavor. I did double the spices as others recommended. We both enjoyed this recipe and will make it again! Im giving 5 stars for the base recipe as I know everyones tastes are different and me doubling up on the spices is my choice as I like things a bit spicy!

Heavenly Hot Dog Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
Other than cutting the recipe in half, I followed the directions to the letter. I found that the flavors combined well. My only problem with it, is very minor. I think that the amount of sugar was still a tad to much. My wife could not taste the sweetness in the sauce but I could and to me it was just a tad to sweet. I am not a fan of sweet and savory in the same dish which is probably why I could really taste so much of the sweetness. Other that that, I could not in good faith give this less than 4 stars but because I know its my own issue with sweet and savory dishes that I still give this a 5 star rating! It does require some sugar but that will be for me to experiment with for my taste! Great job on the recipe!

Sausage Potato Bake

Reviewed: May 14, 2009
This was a good recipe. We both felt it was missing something. I really think it needed some veggies besides what was in the soup. I will make this again but will add a few things to it next time.

Big Smokey Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
These were excellent! I made it per the recipe with the exception of only using half a chipotle pepper. I am used to very hot foods and this to me was only slightly warm. My wife felt that it was very hot and suggested only a 1/4th of the chipotle pepper for next time. So anyone making this, make it to your heat level. The flavor of the chipotle is outstanding in it and I wouldn't change a thing in the recipe for myself.

Dill Pickle Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
To me, this had a very strong dill flavor which I particularly enjoy a lot. This is my first Dill soup that I have ever tried and have to say that I did enjoy it. I think I will mess around with the recipe and try out different flavor combinations. Thanks for the recipe!

Apple and BBQ Sauce Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
This was absolutely delicious!! I did a couple things differently but otherwise the recipe was very close to the original. I added liquid smoke and I cooked them in the oven for 3.5 hours at 300 degrees. This was from the frig to the oven. Very very tender, and was a big hit with all. I have a smoker and smoke my ribs very often, while these are not at that quality, with the added liquid smoke, it comes close.

Spanish Rice Original

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
Very tasty! I will be making this again. The only two changes I made to this was adding in some Italian sausage as I wanted some meat with my rice hehe and added a little bit more chili powder than it called for. This made a huge meal. Plenty of left overs for a household of 2 people!

Mushroom and Potato Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
This is absolutely the best. I did make a couple changes and used veg broth instead of water and added a minced tsp of garlic and I think it turned out even better. I highly recommend using the veg broth instead of water. I have made this several times now and recommend to anyone that loves mushrooms to try this. You wont be disappointed!

The chicken was very moist but overall I found the dish to be very bland. The spice just seemed to one dimentional for me. My wife liked it though and thats why I am giving it two stars.

Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2006
Very wonderfull! I did make some changes such as using chicken broth instead of cubes. I also used 2 cups of celery, 1 1/2 cups of carrots and added 1/2tsp of oregeno and 1/2 tsp of poultry seasoning, 1 full medium onion, also used rotisserie chicken and I think it makes a huge contribution to the soup. My brothers son absolutely loved it. He ate 3 bowls of it and he never eats that much of any food that we have ever seen. I will be making this often! Oh, I did increase the cooking time to roughly 2-2 1/2 hours.

Scrambled Eggs Done Right

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2006
I was very suprised at how well these turned out. Very light and very fluffy. I swear, I ate the entire thing and felt like I had barely even started to eat. Thanks for the recipe, it will replace my normal scrambled eggs from now on!

Irish Lamb Stew

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2006
This was absolutely great! I made a few changes based on others reviews. I cut the lamb in half and added more veggies. I also used red wine in place of the water and white wine. Everyone loved it despite the fact that none of us has really cared much for lamb. My brothers son tried it and really liked it. He is a very picky eater (we told him it was beef stew until he finished it hehe). I would recommend this recipe to absolutely everyone!!
