Paula's Bread Sticks

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2012
I didn't completely follow the recipe but they were a hit. I didn't have dry milk powder so I subbed 1 1/3 cup 2% milk for the warm water and left out the powder. I also didn't have sesame seeds so I used some Italian seasoning, garlic, and onion powder to "spice" it up.

Kickin' Collard Greens

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2012
The kids fought over the last bit of this. The main thing I changed was putting it in the crock pot on high for several hours.

Family-Style French Toast

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2012
My kids loved this. I had a loaf of smashed wheat bread so rather than use whole pieces I ripped the loaf up and followed the directions. I think this way might have turned out better than the typical French Toast pieces. I also added vanilla to the egg/milk mixture. Thanks for a new twist that is easy to clean up and quick to make for several people at once.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: May 8, 2012
Pretty good. I split into about 6 mini personal pizzas. I also added seasoning (basil, oregano, marjoram, garlic powder, and onion powder). Only thing I would have changed is to add more salt. We'll probably use this again.

Eastern North Carolina Barbeque Sauce

It tastes good I just prefer a different style, but my husband loves it. It's so easy to make too. Thanks!

Tacos in Pasta Shells

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2012
Pretty good. Needed to add extra sour cream, used taco seasoning instead of chili powder and salt, and will add tomato, cilantro, green onions next time.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
I made this today. It tasted good but the middle wasn't done before the top was browning. I think next time I'll turn the heat down to 325 or 300.

Asian Noodles

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
Made as stated and added garlic and green onions. I thing it went over well, just needed a little more soy since it had a stronger vinegar overtone than I'd like. After adding extra soy it was great.

Fabulous Fajitas

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2012
These tasted better than I expected after adding little shredded cheddar. My husband liked them. This is a very easy recipe and much of it can be prepared ahead of time.

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2012
I made it as described and it turned out wonderfully. My family ate it and we had left overs for the next day which my husband took to work for lunch. He said it was even better the second day. Thanks for the recipe!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2011
It tastes great. I made the whipped cream and the other ingredients in separate bowls like suggested, but the consistency was still not what I was hoping. Maybe after either freezing it or chilling it for a while it will set up like I want. I also added some meringue powder (I use it in my buttercream to create a stiffer icing).

Turned out a lot better than I was expecting...though the cooking time was not enough. Took about an extra 20 minutes.

Haricots Verts Lyonnaise

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2011
This wasn't that bad. I can't tell what it needs but the red wine vinegar didn't help it any. I think my family would rather eat green beans plain.

Chicken Cordon Bleu I

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2011
This was good. I made a few changes though so I gave it a 4. I followed other reviewers' advice and brushed the chicken with an egg wash (beaten egg and water) then added the bread crumbs. I used panko. I also added cream of chicken soup, about .5 cup sour cream, and lemon juice. It turned out well.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
Was good. I added a little sausage to the ground beef. We weren't sure of the carrots but after eating it we didn't taste them at all...just added vitamins. I think next time I'll add peas and bake it a little longer. My husband also said it needed fennel and pepper.

Costas French Market Doughnuts (Beignets)

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2011
I am anxious to try this recipe. My husband and I went to New Orleans on our honeymoon and Cafe Du Monde was a highlight of the trip. I did read on the CDM site that they suggest frying in cotton seed oil like they do. I saw some people thought something was missing. Perhaps that is it.
