Sunshine Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
Honestly, based on the reviews, I expected great things with this recipe - however it was okay at best. Will not make again.

Quick Chili I

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
I've made this twice now and it is VERY good. Quick and easy with fantastic results. I was somewhat confused with the ingredient list: it calls for 2 cans of Italian-style diced tomatoes, but then the directions refer to tomatoes with chili peppers. I used 3 cans regular diced tomatoes (undrained) and then one 4oz. can (drained) diced chilies. I also used all kidney beans and reduced the salt to 2 tsp. and the hot pepper sauce to 1 tsp. (I'm a weakling when it comes to spice) Delicious!

Chicken Thigh and Dumpling Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
My family LOVED this! Very good. I also threw the bacon right in (as others did) and I used the Bisquick Dumpling recipe (from the box) since I forgot to buy the biscuits. Will definitely make this again. Note: had the leftovers for lunch, adding a little water before putting in the microwave (the dumplings soak up a lot of the liquid). I think it tastes even better the next day!

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
This one was a mixed bag for us: 3 stars from my husband, and 1 1/2 stars from my 9yr old and myself - split down the middle, I gave this 2 stars. I was hesitant to try this recipe because of the peculiar ingredients, however based on the rave reviews I gave it a shot. I made the recipe exactly as is, using real bacon bits (my preference)and Soy Vay Very Very Teriyaki. Part of the problem may have been the type of teriyaki I used, because this recipe came out almost too sweet. It's the only teriyaki sauce I ever use, so I was surprised it came out that way. (I've marinated chicken with it in the past, and never had a problem) My husband had 2 helpings and said he would eat it again, but my daughter and I only got through half of it before turning our plates in. Our initial response was that we liked it, but the flavors became too much and it kind of got to us both. My teenager wasn't home, so he'll get the leftovers. I probably won't make this again.

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
Very Good! I used bone-in/skin-on thighs and baked at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Although the smell of the garlic is overpowering, the taste is mellow and really good. Perfect for low-carb dieters like myself.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2007
My family LOVED this recipe!!! I tend to make chicken a lot and they groaned when they heard we were having it again, but they raved about this recipe and gobbled it up. My son smelled the curry while baking and imediately had issues (he doesn't like it) but ended up having seconds. Very easy to make. I did cut the butter by half, and I added a tsp. of chopped garlic and used Dijon mustard. I baked it covered at 350 for 30 minutes and uncovered for about 40 minutes more, basting every 15 min during the uncovered time.

Smothered Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2007
Awful. Now to be honest, I'm not the best cook and have yet to make pork chops that were "tender". I followed the recipe decreasing the flour to 1/4 cup (as suggested) and used Worcestershire, rosemary, season salt & pepper - also as suggested by reviewers. Cooked boneless chops a little less than 30 minutes. They were DRY. The sauce was VERY thin and had a "funky" taste to it and very little flavor. Now again, I could have made a mistake somewhere, but I double checked to make sure I didn't miss anything. These were NOT good. I will not make them again.

Chicken In Sour Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2006
This was fabulous! I usually ruin chicken, but this recipe came out so tender and the sauce is amazing. VERY easy to make. As others suggested, I used only 1/2 of the onion soup mix and omitted the pinch of salt. I doubled the sauce using cream of mushroom and cream of chicken (all I had) and used chicken legs and thighs. Very good...family LOVED it!

The Best Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2006
Did not like this at all. I followed the recipe using A1 as the steak sauce and substituted canned mushrooms for the green bell pepper. The steak sauce was overpowering and the consistency of the meat loaf was mealy. Definitely will not make this again.
