About this Cook
Food Lover. Geek Girl. Displaced Yankee living in the Deep South.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that takes my fancy, altho we're trying to do the South Beach/low carb lifestyle, so I try to cook healthy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My father's side of the family was Eastern European so I have lots of memories of cabbage: cabbage and noodles, sweet & sour red cabbage, cabbage rolls....
My cooking triumphs
My beer bread has been a universal hit anywhere I've taken it. I also make a mean lasagne.
My cooking tragedies
My biggest cooking tragedy is that I can no longer shop the amazing butcher shops in the West Side Market in Cleveland. I've never found that quality of meat anywhere else I've lived.

Spinach Chickpea Curry
Ugh. I like Indian food in general and I like all the ingredients in this recipe individually, so I had high hopes for this. Visually, it was unappealing to look at on the plate and the texture of it was also unappealling. The taste was just sort of bland and unexciting, even using extra curry. I hate wasting food, but I just could not eat this.

Peanut Butter Noodles
I used Jif extra crunchy peanut butter, which made the noodles turn out slightly... glutenous, which definitely lowered the appeal. I think the recipe has potential though and want to try it again with some organic peanut butter from Whole Foods.

Baked Potato Salad I
Yum! This was a huge hit when I made it for Xmas and it is likely to bewcome a standard for holiday meals.
