Basic British Scones

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
We loved these, but I did add some ingredients to make them a little more "fun". I halved the batch and made one with chocolate chips. To the other one, I added cinnamon, nutmeg, white chocolate chips and finely crushed walnuts. My daughters and husband liked them and called them "breakfast cookies".

Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
My cousin used to make this for dinner sometimes and I was really happy to find this recipe. I think it was good, a little salty, but good. I will follow other reviewers recommendations next time and soak the beef a little to tame the saltiness a bit!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
These were good, but I think it was the icing that saved them for us. Next time I make them, I will try to either add a lot of cinnamon or vanilla or something to the dough, as I don't think it tasted very good by itself. Also, I think maybe I will try to either double the filling or try a different one... It didn't seem like there was enough cinnamon taste for us.

Shirley Temple II

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2008
well, after reading the great reviews, I hate to leave a not so great one, however, we just thought this tasted like fizzy oj... I might decrease the amount of oj next time and see if that makes it better. It was refreshing and pretty, just not anything too spectacular.** UPDATE- Okay, we tried them again, and this time I only used 1/4 cup orange juice, used about 3/4 cup sprite and 2 TBSP grenadine... MUCH BETTER this time!!!

Souvlaki

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2008
I used a package of pork chops, but other than that, I followed the recipe exactly. The flavor is light and it tasted marvelous! I will be keeping this recipe around to make more often :)

Mom's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2008
I liked this, but I too added some sour cream and then I added a little salt because it was too sweet for my tastes. My 3 children did not like them however.

Cinnamon, Spice and Everything Nice Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
WOW!!! These are my new favorite cookies with molasses! I halved the recipe but I still added almost a whole bag of cinnamon chips. They are fantastic.

Sparkling Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
I took this to a church group and everyone loved it. The "juice" turned red from the strawberries, but it tasted great and refreshing!

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
It didn't turn out quite like I had hoped. While it was easy, I was hoping for it to be sweeter, but it seemed all the brown sugar didn't really stick, it kinda melted all over when it got hot. Even though I repeatedly scooped up the liquidy brown sugar and spooned it over the ham, it didn't seem to hold...

Gyoza

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
I liked these and they went along nicely with our Asian inspired supper. I should warn others, in case they do what I did, if you don't watch carefully (like if you try frying egg rolls at the same time) and the water totally evaporates from the pan while steaming... they are really "pot stickers" and are hard to get out of the pan in one piece!!! (Luckily I made them in 3 different batches, so only the first batch ended up that way!)

Smoked Salmon Sushi Roll

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
I made my rice and used another reviewers suggestion of adding brown sugar and salt to the vinegar before pouring over, which I think added a little something. I also cheated and used my kitchen scissors to cut the nori before I made my rolls. It took me quite some time to prepare these as I couldn't quite figure out the whole rolling process, but in the end, they tasted amazing!!! My brother who loves sushi was pretty impressed!

Authentic Chinese Egg Rolls (from a Chinese person)

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
Since I had to use ground pork for another recipe, I just used the rest in these egg rolls. I did not use msg and used baby bella mushrooms instead of the wood ear. The whole process took awhile, but the result was worth it. I served them with a sweet and sour sauce recipe from this site and they were very good. I will use this recipe often I am sure!

Chicken Satay

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
I invited my dad and brother over for an entire Asian meal, which included these. I broiled them after marinating all night and served them with a dipping sauce (I can't seem to find or remember where I got the recipe for the sauce however!). They were perfectly delicious!

Oatmeal Cinnamon Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
I was really excited about this recipe and it took me months to actually find cinnamon chips. I didn't like the texture of these cookies. I think I will use my favorite "soft oatmeal cookies" from this site and add cinnamon chips instead of using this recipe in the future.

Hot Buttered Rum Batter

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
I cut the recipe in half since I knew I would be the only one eating/drinking it. I don't measure I just scoop in two or three big spoonfuls of batter into my mug, add boiling water and it is delicious!

Easy Pistachio English Toffee Ice Box Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
I liked this and so did everyone at my church small group. I just didn't really understand what the candy bar on top was for. Maybe I made my pieces too small, but I couldn't really tell they were there. I don't know if I would pick to make this one over some other recipes I have though.

I really wanted to like these, but I just didn't. I really like dates and I like honey but these just didn't do it for me...

Kentucky Butter Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
The sauce was good, but the cake itself was a little bland I thought. I finally made a second batch of sauce, sliced the cake and poured the sauce over the slices. Once they were good and soaked, it was much better, but It was too much work for a just okay cake.

These were okay, but I think they would be better with more of a honey taste to them.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: May 17, 2008
The recipe was easy to follow and easy to make. However, I think they should either be put into an 8x8 or have the filling doubled. The bars are good, but I think next time I will also add more lemon juice. I like my lemon bars a tad more tart, as these are pretty sweet.
