Roasted Chickpeas

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
WOW I love these! I was so curious to try these so I finally made them, and I'll be making them again! I did take the advise from a review to roast them dry then add the oil and seasoning - they were perfectly dry & crisp by 30min. I did use less oil 1tbsp, salt, garlic powder & cayenne - they are fantastic & addictive!!

Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
This was excellent! I used more bacon (maybe 10 slices to use it up) and 2 boxes of frozen kale. It seemed so thick, probably from the kale likely being more than the 2c so I added another cup of water and a little more bouillon powder. I doubt those changes would have affected the flavor much - we all loved it and we'll have this again!

Neapolitan Cookies I

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
I am in love with these cookies!! They're so different, and not too sweet - and the recipe makes a lot too. I read a lot of reviews and decided to be creative as well using ideas that I read. I chopped marichino cherries and added them to the pink part; I added the almond extract and some coconut to the white part; I used the chocolate square as stated in the recipe and added the nuts to the brown part. I find these addictively delicious and they were fun to make too!

No Bake Peanut Butter Cookies I

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
These are so good, and so easy! I meant to take the advise of many and use less sugar but when I made them I had forgotten that. I'll have to try to use less sugar next time, they are very sweet - but I love the peanut butter in these, it's not overwhelming at all. DH doesn't care for peanut butter at all but he really liked these too. I did have to use a little more oats, maybe 1/2c to get them to stay in a shape rather than to spread out in a big mess lol but definitely worth trying these! YUM!

Pasta Pomodoro

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
So good!!! Followed the recipe close, the only change was that we used 1/2 the olive oil. The next time I think I'll double the balsamic vinegar because I was hoping to taste that flavor a bit stronger but it was really really good anyway - yum - we'll have this again!!

Silver's Savory Chicken and Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
This was pretty good, a little bland but worth working with. I followed the recipe really closely but I used only 3c cooked chicken which was plenty with everything else. I never added provolone cheese to a casserole before, it was stringy and not as flavorful as I thought but not sure what I'd use instead unless I used all cheddar - but we'll have it again with some seasoning, it was nice & quick and ss liked it, he prefers blander foods anyway

Beef Bourguignon II

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
Oh wow this was fantastic! I followed the recipe really close - I used fresh mushrooms & omitted the canned onions; I added 1/4c beef broth to make up for not having the liquid from the canned onions. The meat was so tender and everything was just so delicious - everyone loved it - and the best part is that it was so easy!

Slow Cooker Pierogie Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
This was surprisingly good! The ingredients sounded interesting so I had to try it but I cut the recipe in half. My husband said maybe I should try more cabbage & bacon next time - so basically I think 2 packages of pierogies & half the butter would work well with leaving the other quantities as written. We'll have this again!

Good Morning Wrap

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
I thought this was such a great idea! I got the cottage cheese with the pineapple in it (I love that, but seldom get it so it was a treat!) and I made one for myself on Saturday - no one else in my family would care to try this - and the second on Sunday without the brown sugar - I don't think the brown sugar is necessary but that could just be me. I can't wait to try it with berries too like in the picture!

Taco Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2011
This is great! I made more for leftovers by cooking 1lb pasta (whole wheat rotini) and 4c lettuce and 1c Catalina, and used two packages of taco seasoning (homemade). I cooked the onion & pepper with the ground beef (raw peppers bother me & DH, raw onion bothers SS) and I added minced garlic to the mix. Everything else I used the quantities stated in the recipe - it was a good change, everything seemed enough for quantities. I cubed a block of sharp cheddar to mix in rather than using shredded cheddar, we prefer it that way in salads. We will definitely have this again!

Marinated Spicy Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
I've made this before but never rated it - we had it again last night and it's just great! No changes to the ingredients needed - however sometimes I just bake the chops and they're very good that way too.

Pumpkin Pie Squares

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
Y U M these were so good! I took the advise of many and used a square pan rather than a 9x13 - the crust would have been tough in a bigger pan. As a result the filling was taller and did require a lot more cooking time (roughly 30-40min more) but these are well worth it, so very good!!

Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
These were good - I had a tough day getting dough to rise (made two dough recipes) but that isn't a fault of the recipe. I unfortunately cooked them a tad more than they needed, again not a fault of the recipe. My youngest son and I still really liked them, oldest son & DH thought they were so-so but I will try this again :) the frosting was quite good!

Hidden Treasures Ranch Pockets

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
These were very tasty, just difficult to work the dough. I had a tough day for getting dough to rise - and the squares barely closed for me. I had a little of the groudn pork mixture left over, just couldn't get it all to fit in the dough - however the flavor was so good and everyone enjoyed these - and I followed the recipe exactly (except for using half ww flour & half bread flour - 1c each)

Zucchini Orzo

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
This was really nice, but light on flavor like many said. I started out by following the recipe exactly but then added 1tbsp worcestershire sauce to add flavor. I didn't love that with this so I will try another flavor boosting idea next time. Oh and I added minced garlic. I had mine with season salted added, DH added parmesan cheese to his. We'll try it again though - we didn't hate it, just needs a boost.

Lentil and Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
I love this soup and will make it again - DH thought it was just ok but he hates lentils :) I meant to cook the lentils separately and blend them but I added them in the regular pan so after an hour I blended everything lol so that made it weird to him - I'll do the lentils separate next time, blend then add to the soup. I followed the recipe very close, used half sweet & half hot sausage (I usually do that) and just used 8c water w/3tbsp powdered chicken broth, there was plenty of liquid. That's the only change - except for using WW orzo for the pasta but that didn't change the flavor.

Yum! And very easy! I only made one small change, I added garlic. I have had this saved for ages and I'm really glad I finally made it!

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
This really was very good and easy. DH & I thought the sauce was a bit too sweet so we'll try it with half the honey next time. I also eliminated the dried red pepper flakes because SS doesn't like things too spicy and it's a good thing because even with using half the cayenne it was just right for spicyness :) I doubled it to use with "Quick and Easy Pizza Crust" from this site, but it would have been fine to make as written for that crust. We'll have this often!
