Runza Casserole For Two

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
This was delicious, everyone loved it! I doubled the recipe and made it in a 9x13 pan. I've never had Runza before and have been wanting to try it for so long - I'm glad this is the recipe I tried for the first time making it - we'll have this again! The dough was good too, it didn't rise as well as other dough recipes I've tried, but for this recipe it worked really well.

Half and Halfs

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
I like these, I don't love them as much as other cookie recipes I've tried. The flavor is just pretty good, and I followed the recipe exactly. I made them into heart shapes for valentines day which was some work but that has nothing to do with the recipe. I followed the recipe exact too. And since they're a butter cookie I chilled the dough before baking so they wouldn't flatten out too much, that helped but they still stayed soft so I might like to try half shortening and half butter some time.

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
YUM! such an easy and tasty recipe. I tried with 1-1/2 sticks of butter and had a slight crumbling problem but not so bad to not make it worth while to reduce the butter. We'll have these again!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
Oh my was I surprised! I was determined to find a recipe that was similar to store bought white bread that my son & step son would use for sandwiches. DH didn't think homemade bread could come out as soft but this recipe is what I was looking for! I avoided this recipe because DH can't have white flour breads and I'm not a fan of it - but like I mentioned son & step son prefer it - and now I can make it as needed - was very pleasantly surprised :)

Spicy Chicken Rice Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
Excellent soup! I followed recipe exact, using brown basmati rice though and cooking it 45min because that rice takes longer to cook. So delicious, not too spicy at all! It didn't make 6 servings in my opinion though - but we'll have this again - we all loved it!

Slow Cooker Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
This was excellent - usually I'm not a big fan of corn chowder but DH really likes it so I tried it and everyone really liked this! I only made one change, like many I added a can of creamed corn in addition to the other can of corn - we'll have this again!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
Delicious! We took the advise of many and cut the salt to half but will need to reduce it more still - was very salty but the other seasonings made this very tasty - all we changed was the salt (oh and put some minced garlic in with the onion). I used bigger chickens and they didn't cook evenly in my pan because they were snug so we'll have to handle that differently next time if I decide to use bigger chickens again, but that has nothing to do with the recipe - the recipe is fantastic and we will make this again!

Now that I've organized my freezer and can actually find some stuff that's been hard to find for too long, I thought I'd make some of these old favorites :)

Oven Meatball Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
I love this, DH likes it (he's not a fan of meatballs tho) the meatballs have great flavor, the 'sauce' needs a little more flavor though but definitely worth working with. I think I'll add celery next time too, and maybe a little celery seed.

Favorite Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
Y U M!! These are really really good! I used half white sugar & half brown sugar, and same with the flour, I used half AP and half whole wheat. wow these are scrumptious, my son can't leave them alone. I made smaller cookies too, using the small PC scoop I got 6 dozen - that allowed me to share them easier too. They use a lot of butter so I probably won't make these often, but I will make them again - I'm sure my son will be begging for them :)

Quinoa Tabbouleh

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
This is really great! I had leftover feta (about 2oz) that I added. I only had one bunch of green onions, so I added a little regular onion too. I took the advise of one review and used half the oil and added some apple cider vinegar, I liked the zing it gave it. Hmm I think that's all I did different - but I'll make this again, I really love it!

Priceless Hillbilly Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2011
I really loved this - I didn't know what to expect with the cream cheese in it but it was just great all together - very sweet, but pecan pie is also. Now and then a sweet treat is needed :)

Baking Nana's Disappearing Focaccia

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
We all loved this, my sons were especially crazy about it, my DH too but had to take it easy because of the white flour, but he would have eaten the whole pan if he could have, I'm pretty sure anyway :) I followed the recipe exactly (using regular salt, didn't have the kosher) I'll make this again, I'll have to, I'm sure they'll demand it! I tried with the 'balsamic glaze' I got in my exchange package, SSOOOO DELICIOUS!! :) Thank you Baking Nana for sharing your excellent recipe!

Spicy Roasted Red Pepper and Feta Hummus

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
Yum! I made it according to the recipe minus the parsley (didn't have any!) but this was so good. I never would have thought to make my own hummus but I will make my own from now on, it was so good! I got an immersable blender for Christmas which made making this so easy. Even my DH shared some with me, and he has texture issues and refuses anything with a bean texture but he really enjoyed this too.

Garlic Parmesan Orzo

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
This was delicious, everyone loved it. The only change I made was that I omitted the parsley (didn't have any) but would use it if I had it. We usually have whole wheat pasta, and I can't find whole wheat orzo in my local stores so I'll keep looking but once in a while white pasta is ok I guess :)

After-Work Beef Pot Roast Dinner

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
This was absolutely delicious, everyone loved it. I followed the recipe exactly with the exception of searing the meat first. I used my dutch oven to slow cook it at 325 for 2hr then added the zucchini (had to try my new dutch oven! :) We'll have this again!! I served this with Garlic Parmesan Orzo, so delicious!
