About this Cook
I am a mother of three, step-mother of three more, and a grandmother by proxy. With a husband in law enforcement, there is always someone at my house, hanging out, eating, and in need of entertaining. I'm also working long shifts, so my time means a lot to me. Cooking a good, filling meal here is an absolute must.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy trying my hand at new foods, and I am most interested in traditional Southern dishes, since my man is truly a down home southern fried kind of fella. I also enjoy trying to sneak in healthy alternatives when I can!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Although southern born and bred, my mother was a Northern gal, so I have a mixed cooking background. The only tradition that was ever carried on in my house was Sunday dinners. If you can make a mouth watering Sunday-worthy dinner, then the tradition in this family has been met.
My cooking triumphs
Every time I put a meal on the table that my family will clean out in record time, that is a triumph! Most recently, I baked white bread from a recipe on this site. It induced instant oohs and ahhs. Now THAT'S a triumph to be proud of..... my step-children have NEVER had freshly baked bread!
My cooking tragedies
*Grin* I tend to burn or oversalt food when not paying close attention... and if the house is slightly smoky, well, no one blinks an eye.

These really came through for me in a pinch this morning. Fast, uncomplicated, and the kids liked them well enough. They are a little bland, but syrup fixes that right up.

Cinnamon Rolls I
This was my first time ever making cinnamon rolls. I was a little worried about how my husband would like them, since they are not traditional cinnamon rolls, but he LOVED these! He's even asking me to make up a batch for his coworkers tomorrow. :) The dough was a little too soft, but I may have made a mistake, since I have no machine and had to do these by hand. I can't wait to make up my own small variations on this recipe!
