Stewed Squash

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
I had been looking for a recipe that used both yellow squash and zucchini when I came across this one to use as a base. I did change some things. I used 1 can of Rotel Tomatoes instead of water, 4 slices of bacon(precooked and crumbled), 2 yellow squash and 2 zucchini along with 1 chopped onion and seasonings. I cooked it all together in a skillet for about 10 minutes. The dish was a little warm to the taste, but overall pretty good. I might try mild rotel next time. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

Fettuccine with Sweet Pepper-Cayenne Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
My dish turned out pretty good. I did make a few changes. Instead of cloves of garlic, I used chicken broth with garlic. Also, I added some garlic salt and 3 pieces of baked chicken breasts, chopped. For more moisture, mix some of the chicken broth with half and half like someone suggested. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

Million-Dollar Pound Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
My cake was very good. It had great texture, fine and moist. I topped the cake with cream cheese frosting. Could use it with a variety of different toppings. Will use again. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Basic Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2007
This is a frosting recipe that I use quite often when making a three layered cake. You need to use all of the confectioners sugar for the right spreading consistency. If you are frosting a sheet cake, left in a 9" X 13" pan, you may want to cut down the recipe some. I highly recommend this recipe. It is very good.

Georgia Pecan Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2007
This cake turned out OK. It is more like a pound cake. Not too sweet and a little dry. I added almond extract in place of lemon extract. I topped my cake off with cream cheese icing because my husband likes icing. May increase the vanilla and almond extract next time or even play around with other flavorings. Could even add chocolate chips.

The Best Banana Pudding

Reviewed: May 26, 2007
I made a few changes in this recipe.I use a 16 oz. container of Cool Whip and 2 boxes mini vanilla wafers instead of what the recipe calls for. Still just as good.

Never Fail Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2007
I've been making this biscuit recipe for nearly 30 years, with the following differences: 1/2 cup shortening instead of butter(sometimes I use vegetable oil or bacon drippings), 2 pkgs. splenda or 2 tsp. sugar. To keep your biscuits light and fluffy, mix only until blended. Over mixing will cause your biscuits to be not as light. I bake mine at 425 degrees for 20 minutes.

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
This recipe was a hit. I used black eyed peas with bacon instead of white beans. I didn't have any fresh garlic so I used dehydrated minced garlic along with garlic salt, pepper, and chicken bouillon granules to taste. I forgot to add the cheese, but it was still good. Was more like thick soup. The chili did not have a lingering hot taste. Don't leave anything out. Along with this chili, I served rice and crackers. I will definitely make this recipe again. Thanks!

Wedding Cake Icing

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2006
This is the best recipe for icing that I have ever used. MAY WANT TO TRY USING BUTTER CRISCO STICKS INSTEAD OF JUST PLAIN SHORTENING. Thanks for the recipe.
