Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2006
My husband says it's the best cake I've ever made! I did use the cream cheese frosting as some others suggested. Thanks for the recipe!

Beef and Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2011
My family LOVED this recipe! We followed others advice (and the picture!) and put it over pasta, which we enjoyed. The meat was tender as were the lentils and the flavor was absolutely wonderful. We will be putting this in the dinner rotation for sure!

Fabulous Homemade Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
I love this bread! I just started making my own homemade bread and I am very happy with how this one turned out. I have 9x5 bread pans, so that meant that I made two loaves and froze two loaves, instead of having 6 loaves as discussed in the recipe. The taste is great and even my pickiest eaters enjoyed the bread. I did this all by hand as I don't have a mixer, so that wasn't a problem either.

Deep Dish Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
These are awesome! I love cake-like brownies and these are the best. I definitely encourage adding a little more unsweetened cocoa powder... probably more like 2/3 or close to 3/4 cup.

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
So good! I followed other reviewers' advice and used the Chocolate Frosting I recipe on the top of the brownies and they were excellent. They are chewy, but still have a nice, thick almost-cakiness (I am sure that's not a word!) consistency to them, which I prefer in a brownie. I definitely recommend these.

Excellent Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2009
My family and I really enjoyed these cookies! I am not a big fan of nuts, so I added a 1/2 cup of semi-sweet and a 1/2 cup of butterscotch chips into the batter and they turned out great. These will definitely go into the cookie rotation.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
I am now buying one bunch of bananas for my family to eat and one to ripen so that I can make this bread! My family and friends fight over who gets part of this loaf (I had a friend bring me ripened bananas so that I would make her some!) As someone else suggested, I coat my loaf pan with a dusting of white sugar after I grease it. GREAT RECIPE!!

Texas Sheet Cake V

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
This is the best recipe! I took it to a pot luck at church and my pastor was licking the frosting that had stuck to the tin foil that I had used to cover it during my trip to church! It really is that good! :) Be careful to really allow the ingredients in the sauce pan to cool enough or you will "cook" the eggs in the bowl when you add them together and you will see little flecks of that in your cake. I was in a hurry the 1st time I made it and made that mistake. It was still good, though! I have rectified that mistake in the MANY subsequent makings of this recipe!

Peanut Butter Cake VI

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
My family loves this cake... it's a great one to take to potlucks, etc as it isn't too rich and has a nice peanut butter flavor. My mom made this exact recipe when we were growing up and I was very happy to find it on here.

Busy Day Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
This was okay. I used another reviewer's suggestion and mixed everything together with chicen that I par-boiled first, but the dry onion soup mix was too much... and I didn't even use the whole thing. I thought it made the whole recipe taste like the soup mix. I would try it without the soup mix and add some veggies and maybe french-fried onions on top to give it some crunch. It tasted a little mushy to me.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
We all loved them! I was hoping they would be a little softer (I like my cookies that way and they were by no means crunchy... just a little chewier than I wanted), but they had a wonderful taste and I will definitely make them again.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
We enjoyed this recipe and I will try other soups for sauce. I used a can of cream of mushroom and a can of cream of celery because it's what I had in the pantry and I wanted extra sauce. Also, my chops had a nice crunch to the outside, even though I put quite a bit of sauce over them, so just make sure you sear them well with the coating on it before putting them in the oven (make sure your oil is nice and hot before putting them in the pan). Also, I didn't have any white wine in the house, so I just used milk (again, I doubled it) and added some fresh mushrooms that I sauteed in butter to my soup mixture.

Bran Muffins II

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
We are really enjoying these and I am making them a little different each time I bake a batch. This is a great recipe as my kids love to eat muffins and things like that in the morning and it's a great way to have fresh ones ready at a moment's notice. So far, I have sprinkled the top of the muffin with a little brown sugar and some honey and in another batch I added a few chocolate chips to each muffin. Next, I think I will try some nuts and maybe some dried fruit or maybe some mashed banana?

Cheesy Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2007
My husband and I really enjoyed this recipe. We are of the mind that not everything has to be over-spiced, so I don't agree with the other reviewer on the "bland" remark. Add a little extra salt (and I used a yellow onion, rather than the green...) and it's a nice, easy meal to feed the family on a cold evening. You can't go wrong with broccoli, rice, and chicken in my mind...

Black-Eyed Pea Gumbo

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2011
This was okay. My husband liked it and since it makes so much, he took it to work and shared it with co-workers, who also thought it was good. I personally found it bland, even though I added some hot sauce and cayenne to the recipe. I don't think I will use this particular gumbo recipe again.
