Hello Everyone!

Thanks so much for stopping by! This is my first-ever blog and I wanted to share some of my personal recipes, as well as other member’s personal recipes with you all. Sometimes you can't always find what you're looking for in the published recipes...don't you wish they had a section of the site called "Pending Approval: Personal Recipes"? Or something to that nature anyway.

I just think it's kind of unfair that it takes SO incredibly long (if ever) to get a recipe "approved". They need a better system!

My personal recipes are usually just simple things anyone can make...bacon in the oven, stuff like that. I mostly do personal recipes for myself...I'm not really interested in getting them published.

Hehe, thanks Sarah-May! I love it too! I was always trying to find people's personal recipes and they were sooo hard to find. If you misplaced or forgot to save one, you had tot remember who made it and then try to get ahold of them to ask them for the recipe again.

THANKS EVERYONE!!! :D I'm so happy you all love it! I will be categorizing even further, adding groups like this: "Dinner Ideas: Chicken", "Dinner Ideas: Beef", "Dessert: Cakes & Pies", etc. I just want to get as many as I can posted first. @SAKURA: Yep, I added that Sweet & Tangy Chicken a couple hours ago. :) @KGORA: Thanks! You're fine, I'm checking both areas and collecting them all...it is a process though so it will take me a couple hours to get them all on. But keep posting everyone! :):):):):) Oh yeah, and for some reason, it won't let me make them all bold, only some of them, and it is completely random...I'll work on trying to fix that as soon as I get everything on!

In defense of AllRecipes, I can understand why they wouldn't have this section. I like the fact that before recipes can be published they are tested for accuracy, directions, ingredients, etc. I also love the fact that they do their research and make sure recipe submitters aren't plaguerizing someone elses work or published cookbook recipe. I think having blogs for specifically this reason is a good thing. I like the fact that this blog has a bunch of unpublished recipes that opens up a whole new world of ideas and recipes.. but chefs and cooks should be aware that these recipes aren't tested, they could have been lifted from someone's cookbook.. and we make them at your own risk. But still, it's a fun way to share our recipes that have merit and are good ones.. without waiting on AR to publish. I also agree, that they process is very slow and frustrating.. but can you imagine how many people submit their recipes? It would take a lifetime to go through them all and test them.

Fun blog and it's interesting to see all the recipes that people submit that either don't pass their taste test, or just get bogged down in the system. I'm with Belles though, I like seeing that it has the AR "stamp of approval" as it gives this site credibility for posting quality recipes.. not just someone's idea of a tasty dish.. which may or may not be tasty to others. But, then again, why should a great recipe wait just because it's getting bogged down by AR? Looks like alot of nice recipes here and it's a good idea to have them in one spot. Just use caution that you are getting permission to post recipes before you put them here. I probably would not like my recipes published without my permission. Kind of a privacy thing and maybe a permission/legal thing too.

You asked if AR might not approve of what you're doing here. I wouldn't think they'd have too much of an issue with it, but it wouldn't hurt to at least let them know you're doing it? Just a thought.

And I'll try to find your recipes in your box for you since you won't be able to for a few weeks! @Judy: Thanks, I'll try to find your cake recipe too. :) @ BellesAZ: I also thought the same thing, and I do realize that they test them, but they could have a disclaimer that says so. I think most people on here are pretty good at looking at a recipe and knowing if it's going to work or not by looking at the ingredients. And I think it would be helpful when AR actually DOES go to test out the recipe, because other people will have already tested and reviewed it in their own homes. :)

Well, I come to AR because I know the published recipes have enough merit to have approvals, but I also know that there are a ton of good recipes out there that are stuck in limbo and may never get published because of backlogs. I do agree, I would not want someone pilfering through my submitted recipes without my permission. But I know people do it.. it's happened to me before, my recipe a new name and suddenly it's published elsewhere. Kind of crappy, but that's the risk of posting it here. Makes me want to go in and make all my submissions private, but that takes away from the spirit of this website.. sharing of recipes.

Yup, took it right out of my pending approvals and posted it on their website. Even went so far as to use their name with my story behind the recipe. LOL!! So now, AR probably won't publish it here because it's an exact duplicate of another recipe published elsewhere.. sucks, huh?

There has *got* to be some rhyme or reason to the priorities AR's staff sets as to what recipes get approved, but for the life of me, I can't figure it out. I've had a number of recipes awaiting approval for up to 3 1/2 years, while I've read approved recipes from fine folks that have been members of the site for a mere 2 years. I guess not even being a supporting member helps! LOL! Well, I'm not going to overwork the staff by posting any more. If you're interested, I do have the following non-approved recipes available on my profile (use at your own risk!): Smoked Turkey Split Pea Soup Quick Chili with Black Beans Ginger Ice Cream Southwestern Lasagna Oh, and AR's co-site named "Man Tested Recipes" has published a whole bunch of recipe I've posted, each within 2 hours of posting!

Just came by for the first time to check out this post- amazing! It's like an "alternative universe" AR! We already tried Skoo's chicken&pesto pita pizzas- marvellous! Thanks for posting all your recipes, everyone!

Thank you housewife in training! I found it. We usually eat it for lunch or dinner on a hot summer day. Because the torillas are dry fried and not crispy would make its hard to hand as a snack or appy. But maybe not. We've never tried it :D

Thanks for posting my recipe for Gommy's Potato Pancakes! My family usually served it as a meatless dinner, so I had difficulty finding it right away as you listed it under the breakfast category. I guess it could be both, really.

About Me

Hi, thanks for visiting my page! I am a 24 year old mommy of two sweet little girls, ages 4 and 2. I definitely inherited my love of baking and cooking from my parents, especially my father. He was born and raised in Switzerland, his father was Swiss and mother was Italian so there was alot of diversity in the foods prepared for him as a little boy. He started learning to cook from his mother and then eventually began cooking for the whole family. He also spent his summers at his uncle's dairy farm and helped milking the cows, collecting eggs, gardening, etc. His aunt taught him alot of the traditional Swiss farmhouse style cooking, especially breakfasts! My mom is a health/raw food nut! She even worked at a health-food deli in Los Angeles as a teenager. Now she mostly eats raw food and makes THE BEST salads!!! I will be posting some of her salad recipes soon. :)

My favorite things to cook
Although I have a deep love for my father's cooking, I also feel as if I was a Southern Belle in a past life (if there is such a thing). My heart belongs in the South, even though I've never been there...I just love their way of life, culture, and not to mention the food! I am especially interested in New Orleans and Georgia and would LOVE to travel there someday!

My favorite family cooking traditions
SWISS DESSERTS!!! Nussgipfel, Zopf (Swiss Braid Bread), Linzer Torte, etc.

My cooking triumphs
Making something my boyfriend loves, he is VERY picky...he pretty much wants everything completely plain. The only things he will eat are: MEAT, bread, pasta and occasionally fruit. The ONLY condiments he will eat are ketchup, mustard and BBQ sauce. This makes it very hard to prepare meals in our family because I LOVE veggies!

My cooking tragedies
Steak. For some reason I always burn the outside. :/
