About this Cook
I'm married and have one 5 year old son. I love cooking and baking. Baking is definitely my hobby. I love to bake and eat everything I make! Serious sweets addiction going on here! I used to do much more gourmet type entertaining before my son was born but now my primary focus is trying to make things he likes and to sneak veggies into things since he won't eat them otherwise. I enjoy talking about food, recipe swapping and tasting each others creations with my very good friend (& next door neighbor!) I use the Allrecipes site very often. I count on everyone's reviews so please comment on your experiences with the recipes you try!
My favorite things to cook
Fancy desserts (anything labor intensive that takes a steady hand is for me!), Birthday and special occasion cakes, Italian food, Polish food, and anything I haven't tried yet!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies. About 14 kinds every year! Except I might cut back this year... getting older, harder to maintain the weight! :) I love making Homemade Pierogi with my friend and her family, the Velchansky's.
My cooking triumphs
My first wedding cake! Turned out beautiful. Three tiers of Spiced Pumpkin cake with crystallized ginger, walnuts and dried cranberries. Cranberry buttercream filling and white chocolate cream cheese frosting! Delish!
My cooking tragedies
I have had many... mostly things turning out bland or just plain not as expected. However, these tragedies are fewer and far(er?) between now. I think being able to read other's reviews of recipes helps to avoid tragedies. We learn from eachothers mistakes.

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad
Delicious so far! Just made it and put in the fridge. I used a whole rotisseie chicken, shredded. I added one red pepper, diced small, and one 8 oz package of sugar snap peas, cut into thirds. Added great color and crunch. Based on all the other reviews I'm expecting this to be even better in a few hours!

S'mores Crumb Bars
Really good. I love marshmallows so this was awesome for me. I think next time I would use 2/3 of the crust mixture on bottom and 1/3 on the top. So much of the top crust crumbled off, it seemed like a waste. So easy and fast. I refrigerated before cutting which made it very easy. Actually easier than making real s'mores!!

Frosted Banana Bars
Excellent recipe. Great banana flavor. Made in a 15x10" pan and they were a nice thickness. Served cold as suggested by another reviewer and it really did bring out the banana flavor. I frosted with Whipped Cream Cream Cheese frosting recipe from this site. An excellent combination with rave reviews! Will make again.
