About this Cook
I grew up cooking for my family, and continue doing so today. I usually just cook for my husband and myself, except special occasions, when I cook for a crowd! I went to school for dietetics and took a couple of culinary classes. Now, I'm going to school for nursing.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking. I currently run a VERY small catering business that offers cakes, cookies and candies. Beyond that, I love cooking just about anything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
EVERYTHING homemade. And if we can get it outta the garden or out of the pasture, it's even better!
My cooking triumphs
Impressing my then-future in-laws w/ seared tuna w/ mango chutney, curried couscous and a micro-green salad w/ mango vinegarette.
My cooking tragedies
The first lemon-meringue pie I made, the meringue wept and shrank. I was so disapointed I went home and made 2 more to prove to myself I could do it!

Peanut Butter Bars I
Fantastic! Took the advice of one of the reviews and reduced the butter by 1/2 stick. I chilled the PB bottom for about 20 minutes to make spreading the chocolate easier. HUGE hit at our Superbowl Party and could not be easier!

Chocolate Babka
So.Good! I used Nutella in addition to the chocolate mixture just because I wanted more chocolate. I also skipped the streusel topping, egg washed the top and sprinkled cinnamon/sugar on before baking. The dough was so easy to make and handle-I didn't need any additional flour at all. It was definitely one of the best doughs I've worked with in awhile! I took both "loaves" to a Bible study group of 12 people and both were gone in less than 10 minutes. Next time I may opt for the more traditional twisted loaf, but these were just fine too! I made my cuts with scissors towards the top and didn't have any issues with leaking filling. My husband, who's Polish, didn't remember having this with chocolate, but with a nut filling instead. I may have to figure out what he's talking about and give it a try as well!

Jam Filled Butter Cookies
These were great! Quick and easy. I adapted this to be sugar free by subbing Splenda for sugar and Sugar-free preserves for regular. Worked perfectly :-) I did add some vanilla and lemon juice to the dough as Splenda tends to make the dough drier. Cooked for about 14 minutes because when I tested one of the larger cookies it was still a big doughy on the inside.
