Gunline Coffee

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
This was so yummy and exactly what I was looking for in a coffee that was different than the boring old one. I made it with decaf coffee took it camping and the kids even loved it and chose to have it instead of hot chocolate! Perfect with a dollop of whipped cream, mmmmmmm.

Cranberry Brisket

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
This was a HUGE hit at Hannukah party I threw. I did modify a bit. I used a 5lb brisket, 1 can of whole cranberry sauce (as suggested by other reviewers,) only half an enevelope of onion soup mix (I don't really like the taste of the soup mix) and threw everything in the crockpot and cooked for 10hrs on low. I think next time I will use even less of the soup mix as it was a bit salty and mabybe another can of cranberries to give a more fruity flavor. All in all, really tasty though!

Caramel Shortbread Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
Ok, this year is the first year i've made candy and this recipe is one of the ones i tried. all i can say is YUUUUMMMMMMY!!! i was so proud that it turned out great and everyone was raving about it. it wasn't hard to do (tho i was worried about the caramel as i've never made it before.) i did do as others had suggested and let each layer cool(about 20-30 mins each)before adding the next layer. i also poked holes in the shortbread. definately going into my christmas hand-outs from now on!

Chocolate Rum Balls I

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
this was pretty good and very easy. i did make some substitutions though. i used coconut rum and added shredded coconut to it. i threw the vanilla wafers and nuts in a food processor, then added the rest of the ingredients and processed till mixed thoroughly. i did add more rum as the texture was not quite right. lots of people liked them and wanted more:)

Glazed Meatloaf II

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
This was a really bland meatloaf even though I added some extras to it. Nobody in my house liked it.

Zucchini Pineapple Bread I

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
I love this bread and I get so many compliments when I make it and requests for the recipe. I love to use the excess zucchini from my garden to make it then freeze it. It freezes wonderfully.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
This was alright. I'm not a big fan of bananas and neither are my boys (6 & 2) but I was hoping that with the addition of the chocolate chips it would be better. I made a few subs which might have been the problem. I sub'd applesauce for the oil and milk for the yogurt, used mini choc chips and put it in mini muffin tins, baked for 15 mins. We did not care for the results.

Honey Curried Roasted Chicken and Vegetables

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
LOVED IT!!!! i used chicken quarters and roasted them skin side down for 20 mins (as suggested by another reviewer) while the veggies (baby carrots and yukon gold potatoes) were steaming then put them in the pan, drizzled the sauce over all then cooked an additional 35-40 min. i also doubled the sauce, however it was a bit too much so next time i try this i will try it with just the original amount. i think i'll also try throwing it all in the crockpot like others have.

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2008
these are pretty good. i doubled the recipe, but not the topping and chopped up 2 whole granny smith apples and baked in a 9x13 as suggested by other reviewers. however, even with not doubling up the topping, i still thought it was too much. next time i will halve the topping so i don't feel like i'm eating a mouth full of sugar.

Chip Chicken Lollipops

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2008
tried this tonight with bbq chips and it was pretty good. my 2 boys loved it and my husband said it wasn't bad. i had problems with the chips sticking to the chicken. i think i may have put in a bit too much milk or i didn't crush up the chips enough. all in all, i will try again and with another flavor.

Easy Morning Glory Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
these were pretty good. i split in half all these ingredients: 1/2 oil/applesauce, 1/2 white sugar/brown, 1/2 white flour/whole wheat, and added 1 extra apple and some nutmeg b/c we like it spicy. i threw some baby carrots, the apples, and pecans in the processor and pulsed till desired consistency so the kids wouldn't balk at the carrot pieces in it. i didn't use coconut b/c the kids don't like it and i didn't have any raisins. i think i would like these much better with those 2 additions, so next time i will add for me!

Pizza Pinwheels

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
these did not taste good enough for all the hassle it took to assemble them. my kids liked them, but it was just a mess. i put the dough in the freezer and threw the pepperoni, sauce, and some cheese in the processor like some other reviews. but the dough was just coming apart and breaking everywhere and they didn't roll up very tight. i had doubled the recipe and i ended up just putting some of the sauce mixture with cheese on the lg end and rolling. still wasn't that great although easier.

Cheesy Baked Cauliflower

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
LOVED this recipe. i didn't leave the head whole, but cut up. other than that, followed the recipe exactly. i was getting bored with plain ole cauliflower and this hit the spot. however, my son who loves cauliflower, didn't care for it and prefers it plain with cheese.

Kathy's Delicious Whole Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
the only reason i rate this a 3 is b/c it was very easy to assemble as i didn't skin it first. otherwise i was not impressed at all. it was very bland, even with basting. i doubled the liquids, but only used a TB of olive oil, and cooked a 4.5lb. bird on high for 4hrs. it was very moist, just no taste. and the sauce wasn't that great either. this recipe can't seem to make up it's mind on whether it's chicken adobo or chicken teriyaki. i'm going to try and salvage the meat and use the leftover chicken to make wonton soup.

Cranberry Crumble Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2008
this is really good. i had leftover cranberry sauce from thanksgiving to use up and i didn't measure, but for sure had over 1 cup. i think i will double the cranberry next time tho to get more of that tartness, but other than that, i followed directions to a "T" and threw it all in a 9x9 square pan (don't have a springform.) this is just slightly sweet, not overpowering at all. definate keeper!

Beef Barley Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
Really, really good. i sub'd stew meat for the ground beef and used a bouillion cube instead of granules, and just threw in a bag of frozen cherry tomatoes from my summer garden instead of the canned ones. everything else was the same. it did take quite a bit longer with the stew meat (10 hours was just right.) it's very hearty and filling and i loved it with a dollop of sour cream on top and some homemade bread!
