Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
i did one batch with the shortening and 1 just butter, and i much preferred the one with just butter. i even used butter flavored crisco, but i just didn't care for the taste. was a good consistency for decorating tho.

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
first cake i've made from scratch and it didn't disappoint. only difference i did was add 2t of instant coffee. very moist, not too sweet, and perfect chocolate flavor.

Country Seed Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2009
ooohhhh...this is so yummy. only changes i made were to use 1 cup bread flour & 1 cup WW Bread flour & i added a T of vital wheat gluten. toasted the seeds in the toaster oven, threw it all in the breadmaker last night and i woke up to the smell of fresh baked, yummy bread first thing this morning. will definately be making this again.

used broccoli from my garden and omitted the bacon. completely forgot about the sunflower seeds, but hubby said it was fantastic the way it was and not to change a thing.

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
first time making pita bread and it turned out fab! we hate the ones from the store, but i didn't realize how easy it truly was to make, especially when you just throw everything in the breadmaker. my hubby (whose from Israel) said he loved it and called it "high quality" i followed the directions (except used olive oil and put in another 1/2 t. salt) and put them on my preheated baking stone at 500 for 4 mins. perfection!

Tantalizingly Tangy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
this is wonderful as is. the only thing i don't do is the pineapple sauce over the top as i generally don't have the preserves on hand, but would definately love to try it that way. i generally just use the ketchup/mustard/brown sugar glaze and it still tastes awesome.

Amy's Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
LOVED this! this is my first time making turkey burgers and they turned out fabulous. only changes i made were to half the garlic powder and i used a few dashes of hot sauce instead of pepper flakes. i crushed up some whole wheat cheddar goldfish to use for the crackers. i made some whole wheat hamburger buns, topped with the burgers and bbq sauce. my 7 yr old (who is basically vegetarian and hates most meat) ate 1 1/2 for dinner AND asked to have one for his school lunch the next day! now THAT is saying something!

Baked Chicken Nuggets

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
so, these turned out moist, but the taste didn't go over well. i'm not sure if it was the brand of breadcrumbs i used or just all the addtions to the breadcrumbs. i will try again with a different brand.

Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
first time making soda bread (although i read this isn't actually what the Irish call bread b/c of the egg and sugar)but we loved it. i made 3 loaves with my kitchen aid and added both golden and regular raisins to one. took 2 in for an office potluck and the raisin one was gobbled up in a few mins. BIG hit, will definate make again.

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
Eh...i was really hoping for something great b/c of the ease of use in the slow cooker, but even after adding some garlic powder and a dash of woretshire (i know i slaughtered that spelling) to the meat, it was just bland. meat was bland, sauce was bland. hubby loved it tho and said he'd "allow" me to make it once a month. i will probably try again as a base recipe, but add in my own preferences in the meat and sauce.

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
I rated this a 4 only b/c I did not follow recipe exactly. Per other reviewers, I added 2/3 cup lemon juice and the zest of 2 lemons b/c we like it more tart. Also added an extra T of flour. Other than that, everything was the same. My hubby really likes it b/c it's not too sweet.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
these had great texture and rose up very nicely, but the taste wasn't all that special, pretty bland actually. it either needs to be sweeter or saltier. next time i will add a little bit more of either sugar or salt.
