Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2013
This recipe was spot on, easy to follow for someone who has never made a pumpkin roll before, and it was soooo gooood. My mom, dad, and husband all gave it 2 thumbs up and 5 solid stars. My only advice from my first time making it is to be absolutely sure that the cake has cooled before attempting to roll it back out and put the frosting inside of it. In fact, I would be cautious and make the cooling time double what is listed in the recipe. The heat from baking was trapped in the towel when I unrolled it and it was breaking in some parts where I tried to roll it back up. Also, I was a little skeptical about pouring the cake into a cookie sheet, but if you use a large cookie sheet, it is perfect because the cake is thick enough to stay put. Other than those minor details (because I was able to piece the cake back together when it broke in some parts anyway), this is a wonderful recipe!

Incredibly Easy Chicken and Noodles

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
This was really good! I added black pepper into the mixture as it was heating together and then I cooked the egg noodles separately and added towards the end of the cooking time. I also threw in a bag of frozen mixed vegetables (peas, corn, green beans, lima beans), which were good additions. We give it up two thumbs up!

French Toast I

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2011
Very good and easy to make for a first timer. My husband only gave it 4 stars but I think it deserves 5 easily.

Lemon Asparagus

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
Very good! I served mine with baked potatoes and pork chops. I think I added more taragon and lemon juice, just to make the tangy taste more pronounced. Wonderful still!

Baked Potato

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
PERFECT. I wrapped mine in foil, placed on a cookie sheet, and timed them for about an hour at 400 degrees. Thanks for the recipe that might sound common sensical, but is perhaps not for those of us who haven't yet made our own baked potatoes yet.

Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
My husband thought these were too bland at first, then too garlic-y once I added the garlic in, but I thought they were wonderful. Perhaps he got a chunk of garlic - it was a bit challenging to really mash the garlic into the potatoes.

Bev's Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
Pretty good! Really rich at first, but it was a hit! The only thing is if you're reheating leftovers, you'll probably want to add some milk to it or it'll be sticky and dry. I used spiral pasta. Wonderful!

Classy Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
This was really simple and easy to make, and I had high hopes for the cracker topping, but the dish as a whole was really just bland... and I think it needed more spices of some sort for flavor.

Amber's Super Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
This was pretty good for my first time making stuffing... but it was a bit dry, even after I added about an extra cup of chicken stock. I'll add more next time, and also, I think it could have really used more wild rice. Great overall!

Easy Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
Loved this! I used chicken stock instead of turkey stock because that's what I could find/had available. It still went well with Thanksgiving dinner.

Scrumptious Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
First time making this and it was a success! It is absolutely true that even if you don't like sweet potatoes, you'll still like these! I added mini marshmallows on top of mine, just for visual appeal, alongside the pecan mixture.

Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
This pie was delicious, and I was very proud of it especially because this was my first time making pumpkin pie! The only thing is that mine actually took more like an hour per pie to bake instead of the 30 min. as the recipe indicates. Perhaps its altitude or something of that nature...

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
Delicious! I used lunch meat ham and chopped the slices into small pieces. We garnished the soup with shredded cheddar cheese and turkey bacon bits.

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
This was pretty good, but be careful of the white wine addition. I felt like this made it a bit on the sour side, but others who ate it didn't notice at all and found it quite delicious! I will be making this one again. =)

Amy's Spicy Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
This was really good! I added some shredded rotisserie chicken on top. Be careful of the chili powder & jalapenos - my husband thought it was too spicy after a few bites, but this was easily fixed by adding beans to it. Also, we topped if off with a dollop of sour cream.

Teriyaki Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
This was pretty good, but the marinade wasn't as strong as we'd have liked it. Perhaps I needed to marinade longer, or use a flat grill to cook it... but it was light, fresh, and tasty still! =)

My Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
After looking through other reviews, I decided to add an egg to the meat mixture, and then I added a small can of tomato sauce on top of the meatloaf once I smoothed it out in the small baking pan (instead of topping it off with ketchup). I also used breadcrumbs instead of bread bits, and I didn't have Italian seasoning, and it still came out well. I think the Italian flavored breadcrumbs helped and the Onion Soup mix. It was pretty good overall!

Gravy Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
This recipe is simple to follow, and I made it with 6 thin cut pork chops and it turned out wonderful! I cooked this for my parents with green beans and red potatoes, and they rated it 5 stars --- and my dad is picky, so this says a lot! Very tasty.

Swiss Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
This was good, a different kind of flavor with chicken. It was a bit chunky, though, and I even added more broth than the recipe called for. Perhaps I'll try this again and modify a bit to fit a smaller amount of food for next time.
