Creamed Chicken for Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
Absolutely marvelous! Used leftover turkey and 1% milk and it was still satisfying. Thanks so much for the recipe, Sal!

Walter's Chicken and Mac

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
We lovingly refer to my hubby as "Mr. Bland" - he likes very, very mild chili and eveything else unspiced. But even he remarked that this recipe had no taste. I love the idea and the ease of preparation but will have to come up with some other ways to add some flavor to this flavorless recipe.

Bacon Baked Beans

We loved these beans! I did cut the sugar to 1/2 cup as well as crumbling the bacon into the beans. Perfect!

Robust Garlic Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2009
This was the moistest, most flavorful chicken I've ever baked! After reading other reviews, I cut the butter to 1/2 cup (used light butter), even though I baked a 5 pound chicken, there was plenty left to put some on the potatoes, carrots and onions I put around the chicken. Poured a little chicken broth on the veggies along with the seasoned butter. Baked for an hour and a half. It looked terrific and tasted wonderful! Oops, almost forgot, I didn't have kitchen string so I tied the legs with a length of natural cotton yarn that I sanitized with boiling water. Worked as well as the string! Thanks for this tasty dish that I'll serve again.

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
This was amazing - tender, juicy and flavorful! The only change I made was to stuff the cavity with a large, chopped sweet onion and two crushed cloves of garlic. Also put a bit of garlic powder on with the paprika, salt and pepper - we really like garlic. Melt in your mouth and the house smelled marvelous when I came in from work. Thanks for the recipe.

Easy and Delicious Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
My family and co-workers LOVE this recipe! The only changes I have made is that I use a package of dry Italian salad dressing mix instead of the bottled and add a little bit of broth when I slow cook the chicken. Followed everything else except I don't like thyme so I added some garlic powder in its place and substituted reduced-fat cream cheese. I've never had a problem with reheating in the microwave - never even had to add liquid.

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
This was so good that after making it for the first time in November, I made it again for Christmas Day. Everyone raved about the taste and the tenderness of the meat! The only change I made was to double the sauce/gravy while halving the amount of sugar. Thanks for this great recipe keeper - it's what for dinner tonight again!

Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
My family loved this! Of course I had to play with it. Used ground turkey and browned it with a small chopped onion and 2 chopped garlic cloves. I parboiled my peppers for about 4 minutes - we like them soft. Because my peppers were long and skinny, I halved them lenghtwise. I used 2 15 oz cans of tomato sauce and a cup+ of cooked rice.I used all the spices listed in the recipe for both cans of tomato sauce.Covered the filled peppers with foil and baked about 30 minutes. My family thanks you!

Sausage Gravy I

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2008
Absolutely wonderful! I used turkey sausage, substituted transfat-free margarine for the bacon grease, used 1% milk and left out the salt(hubbie's on a heart-healthy diet). With a bit of sage for added seasoning, this was a dish we all enjoyed. Might try half white and half whole wheat flour for the roue next time.

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2007
Positively divine! Followed the recipe exactly. The BIG problem was that I couldn't stop eating them! These will be terrific for Thanksgiving, one less dish to make that day. Thanks for the recipe!

Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2007
Yummy! After reading other reviews and from the amount of liquid left in the crockpot after cooking the beef, I was afraid the sauce would be too runny after adding the sour cream. I mixed two heaping tablespoons of flour into the sour cream before adding it to the beef mixture. It came out to a perfect consistency for Stroganoff sauce. Will make this tasty dish again, especially when the temp gets out of the 90's!
