My favorite things to cook
I love to eat BBQ and Southern style foods, but when it comes to cooking I love Chinese stir-frying. It has become second nature since I worked in a Chinese take-out as a teenager.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I was fortunate to have two grandmothers who were the best cooks I have ever known. Family favorites include fried chicken, mustard greens, hush puppies, onion rings, homemade breads and pies,and sweet yeast rolls.
My cooking triumphs
Everyone loves my Asian dishes and children love my baking. I'm known for chocolate chip cookies and blueberry crisp. I also have a way with cheap, tough meats. Best of all, I can start a fire for BBQ quickly without fluid using plain, store-brand charcoal.
My cooking tragedies
This is easy! When I was first married I didn't know much about cooking. I tried to make crepes Suzette, but they were so bad my husband and I couldn't eat them. Neither would our dog!!!

Ham with Redeye Gravy
This authentic recipe is easy on the budget and the taste buds. I made the recipe exactly as directed except I substituted a non-stick pan for the cast iron pan because I no longer have one. It still came out delicious, not too salty melt-in-your-mouth ham steak & fixin's. Fixed it with biscuits and sweet potatoes with some sweet tea. This is my idea of Southern comfort food. Thank you for the recipe.

Bill's Blue Cheese Dressing
This was the BEST blue cheese dressing I've ever had! I followed the recipe to the letter. The dressing barely made it to the salad. My husband and I ate a whole batch on salad during a single meal. Be still my thighs! Thanks, Bill! This is a definite keeper.

Sylvia's Ribs
This is a keeper recipe! I ran short of ketchup and made it up with BBQ sauce, but it came out fine. We used Sonny's Mild BBQ sauce for a sweet sauce, but the pork came out like Carolina BBQ - tender enough to eat with a fork. We substituted 5 lbs country style pork ribs for the 2 lbs spareribs and still had a smidgen of sauce left (which I will save). Thank you for a wonderful way to cook ribs inside the house. My husband and mother both want me to make this again - frequently.
