About this Cook
I am a music teacher (JK - grade 8 ) in a Christian school in Canada. I love to ski, walk, am learning to play golf. I love to read, spend time with my friends. My dependents are a 15 year old cat and an 11 year old car. I'm actively involved in my church and community.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try anything once...but I probably prefer to bake. I have a rather contrary oven, but I still do my best.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is a great cook... but stuck to mostly the basics. I like try out new things... when I was a kid, my specialty was spaghetti sauce.
My cooking triumphs
I make wicked guacamole dip, dutch almond bars. I tried the strawberry almond pie from this website and it was to die for... I made a couple of adjustments...
My cooking tragedies
Not realizing the difference between double acting baking powder and the other stuff... still don't really get that. Dumping 8 tablespoons of baking powder into the flour, which was still in the flour bin... Making cranberry coffee cake and forgetting to the put the cranberries in it.

Addictive Pumpkin Muffins
I reduced the recipe to make 24, still ended up with 36. I also reduced the sugar, still toooo sweet though. Taste good, just too sweet for me.

Beef Samosas
Mmmmm... I could eat this filling cold... actually I did... I used refrigerated pie crust and baked them. Served them with a yogurt/cilantro dip recipe I found on line.... yummy!!

Jacky's Fruit and Yogurt Muffins
These are really delicious. Used fresh blueberries, substituted applesauce for butter. The tops of mine weren't sticky, but a lovely golden brown. My batch made 24 medium sized muffins. My favorite part is that they don't look like pale moon rocks with bits of bluish green in them... thanks for sharing.
