Lisa's Favorite Carne Asada Marinade

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2014
This turned out great, but the one thing I changed was to use THINLY sliced (by the butcher) flank steak. That is the key to tender carne asada. No need for a meat mallet. Even the main stream stores carry flank sliced like this. I am fortunate that I have many carnicerias where I live so this is never a problem. I have never had tough meat. Don't forget the lightly grilled green onions for a traditional dish.

Chili Mac

I gave this recipe only 3 stars for two reasons. First, you need more tomatoes. Second, if you are going to use a packaged mix, go with chili rather than taco. I prefer to do this with my own cumin, cayenne and a couple of diced jalapenos. Good basic recipe though.

A little bland. Next time I will add some garlic powder and maybe some red pepper flakes to kick it up. But the idea is great.

Green Chili Grilled Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
Can I give this 10 stars??? Never thought of using green chile on grilled cheese. And since I am too lazy to chop green chiles and I hate the canned ones, do yourself a favor and get the Bueno (I think that's the brand) fire-roasted green chiles in the freezer section. Comes in a tub.

German Rouladen

Ok, this is marvelous. Want to make it even easier? If you have a hispanic market or carniceria near you, buy carne ranchera (the same meat used for carne asada) and bypass slicing the flank steak, because that is what carne ranchera is: Thin sliced flank steak. Then this is a snap to put together!

Excellent recipe. The only thing I will do different next time is to add about 1/8 cup EVOO.

Excellent recipe. I have made it this way and with soyrizo. Amazingly, I can't tell the difference, although I know it is healthier.

I tried this against my better judgment since the thought of tuna and broccoli sounded so weird to me. This was awesome and so quick for a weekday meal. Served with a side of steamed rice and it was perfect!

Fabulous! I just made this today for lunch and it is great! Trying to get away from so much mayo (which I love, love, LOVE) because it is really not good for you. Greek yoghurt is the key here. American yogurt just won't do!

Why is it that if you add salsa and taco seasoning mix everybody thinks it's mexican? Noodles in a mexican dish? I think not! Very bland. Will not make this again.
