Funky Frito Fruckies

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
Yes, they are odd. And yes, people will wonder what is in them, but they are so good. The perfect mixture of sweet and salty. I use the regular Fritos not Scoops, and I crush them a little. Mixed slightly to coat. Honestly, I am too cheap to buy that many chocolate bars, so I always melt chocolate chips and drizzle over the top. They look prettier that way. I first saw this recipe years ago in a Taste of Home I think. Not sure if it is exactly the same, but this recipe is GREAT! Thanks!!!

Chocolate Truffle Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2011
Waiting for these to cool was hard because they smelled so good. They were too soft to eat warm. They disappeared in a flash!

Gelatin-Flavored Popcorn

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
This was easy and tasty. I used cherry jello and only 1/2 cup of sugar. It was crunchy and sweet. Can't wait to make a lot of different flavors. Thanks!

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2010
I didn't care for these. My hometown has a bakery that makes cake balls, and they are wonderful. These were mushy and had no cakelike qualities. The ratio of icing to cake seemed too high for me. I will try again with less icing.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie

This was really good....& super easy. I had several people ask for the recipe. I made it the night before and refrigerated it. Thanks for the recipe!

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2010
Made this for a teacher luncheon. It was gone in an instant. When they ran out of stuff to spread it on, they ate it with a spoon. It was a HIT! It was a little on the pricey side. I used the refrigerated alfredo sauce, and I doubled everything except the artichoke hearts. Thanks for the recipe.

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
I have to say, this downright stunk while it was cooking. But once we started eating it, it was sort of addictive. The buns got soggy even though I buttered and grilled it. We added Muenster cheese to the sandwiches which helped cut the tanginess of the marinade. I did not have dry ranch, so we added a little ranch dressing at the end. I used the Ken's Buffalo Marinade. It was pretty good, but I will try to tweak it next time.

Sausage and Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
This was good. I made two, one with ham and the other hot sausage. I added white pepper. I did saute the ham chunks before adding to cook the water out. It would have been soggy if not. Some people said it was bland, but what do you expect from eggs, bread and cheese? Thanks for the great recipe. This will be my "no potatoes" recipe from now on.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
This was pretty good bread. I made mini bundts and glazed the tops. It was quite a bit more dry than my usual recipe, however my other recipe uses a ton of oil and sugar. It had good flavor and none of the spices were too overpowering. Thanks for the recipe.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
I made these to the letter except for using 4 bananas (mine were kind of small). While I could taste the banana flavor, some people thought they were cinnamon muffins. They tasted really good to me and smelled great. They were so moist on the bottoms that I thought they might not be done, but they were. Very good muffins. Thanks.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
These were really good. They made exactly 8 muffins. Of the three types of muffins I made for a brunch, they went first. I can't wait to try these with chocolate or cinnamon chips instead of blueberries. The topping really takes the edge off the blueberries. Thanks for the recipe.

Mexican Rice II

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
I have made this recipe as is and with tomato juice instead of sauce and with onion powder. Both ways are great! The sauce makes it more thick, moist, and tomatoey. The juice makes it more like the mexican restaurants do. Oh, and I always add hot chili powder. I have made this for 2 and 100. Everyone loves it!

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
These were pretty good. To me, they need icing, but my husband liked them without it. I did not roll these because I was short on space. Instead, I made balls and pressed with a colored sugar dipped glass. Not very pretty, but tasty.

Butter Snow Flakes

These were really good. They cooked way faster than ther recipe said, but it could have been that my cookie press made very small cookies.

Orzo with Mushrooms and Walnuts

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
I made this for a lunch for 40 people. It doesn't look very tasty, but I thought it was pretty good. A lot of people were not sure exactly what it was. I served it with Anniversary Chicken and green beans. Most of the adults ate all of it. The children didn't eat as much. I didn't think it was bland as others have said. It is an understated side dish that compliments a richer main course.

This chicken was pretty good. Most everyone really raved about it. I found the leftovers were sweeter, but hot off the grill they were tasty. Thanks

Famous Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
This was pretty good to us. I used tenders so it would cook quicker. The chicken stayed moist and had a pretty good flavor. I was surprised that is browned up as much as it did. I would make this again because it was VERY quick and easy. Thanks

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2007
I love this icing because it is not too thick and dries hard enough that you can stack the cookies. It is the best with the Best Rolled Sugar Cookie. People like these better than our local bakery's that is "famous" for their cookies. Thanks for the great recipe.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
I was surprised I liked this as much as I did. I always read the low rated reviews before I make anything. I thought it was pretty good. I changed just a few things. I used chicken broth instead of water. Also, I did saute the onions and ham first, and I added a little thyme. I left the celery out because I don't like it. I found the seasonings to be just right. Maybe because I used low sodium broth and not bouillion. Thanks for the recipe.
