I made both these muffins and the Blueberry Orange muffins from this site. Four out of five people preferred this recipe. I found these muffins to be richer, tastier, and better looking. I did tweak the recipe slightly, based on others' reviews -- my goal was more to make a good muffin than to be able to review this recipe exactly as written, but the changes were minor and the results were good enough to review! My changes were: added 1 cup of blueberries, 1/4 cup of sugar, a little orange zest, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a cinnamon sugar topping. I recommend stirring the sour cream into the liquid ingredients before adding them to the dry ingredients. I had started out adding the sour cream separately as the recipe indicated, but soon felt like that would lead to overmixing, since the sour cream gets lumpy when added by itself. I did have problems with some muffins turning out underbaked in the center -- so a light touch on the mixing and as long a baking time as possible is recommended. Anyway, I love them and so did everyone else! Will make again.
