Colleen's Potato Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
I'm honestly not sure how to rate this, so I'll do so in the middle. I had high hopes, because of all the reviews, but despite how beautiful they looked, they did not taste nearly as good. I cut the recipe in half and followed most of it. I reduced the sugar and used butter instead of shortening (seem not to have any). But all I'm left with is a very weird after taste, like milk. I'm not sure if the reduction in sugar would really make it taste so off, or what it was! Perhaps as a breakfast food, with jam and honey it will taste better.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
I just made this to go with tonight's dinner of Irish Tacos off this site. For some reason I was thinking this recipe called for 1 pound (wowie!) of coleslaw, and we had a 14 ounce bag, so I pretty much halved everything except the mayo and added WAY more onion (A whole medium one) I'm glad I thought that, because with the 1/4 cup sugar, it was pretty sweet. I couldn't imagine it with 1/2 cup! I used rice wine vinegar instead, and olive oil. Tastes pretty good, and I can't wait to have it on my corned beef tavos tonight!

Whole Wheat Beer Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
I was craving fresh bread, and we are out of yeast. This was one of the first recipes I found, so I gave it a whirl! It was extremely easy and came out pretty tasty! I used a bottle of Leinenkugel Oktoberfest. I also went by other reviewers suggestion, and poured some melted butter on top, did it the last 10 minutes of baking. My mother, shockingly, didn't like it, and said it didn't taste like bread.. Saying it was probably the wheat flour.. Looks like I'll be eating a good amount of bread this week! I would love to make this again with a different beer every week or so.

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
I had a bag of cookie mix, which had a cookie bar recipe on it.. so I made that, and decided it needed something on top. I reduced the recipe in half ( 8 servings) and then added a couple extra tbls of peanut butter, and upped the milk to 2 tbls from there. I followed the recipe and had no issues. This frosting tastes fantastic! I saw someone mention the cake recipe on the back of the cocoa container.. I plan on making that and using this frosting next!

Oven Baked Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2011
This was really good! I reduced the serving size by half, yet I still didn't have a pan large enough! We don't own a roasting pan, so as I was putting it in a casserole dish my mother asked if she needed to go out and buy a roasting pan! Since it was near over-flowing, and I hadn't added the rice.. I had her go out and purchase one. Anyway. It isn't very spicy, so for next time I'd add more creole seasoning, some cayenne, something. I'd also cook the shrimp as directed on the bag, and then toss it in once the rest was done, as the shrimp was over-cooked. It was delicious though, and I will be making this again!

Danish Pastry Apple Bars II

Reviewed: May 16, 2010
I would have given this 5 stars, but the dough was extremely bland. I knew I should have put something into it! Sugar, cinnamon.. brown sugar, something! I only used 5 apples, because that's all we had. I packed them into a smaller baking dish, came out just fine. Except for the bland dough.

Cocoa Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
Everyone loved these cookies! They taste much better than any regular chocolate chip cookie I've made recently. I used 2 1/2 cups flour instead of 3 (I'm no baker, so I don't know if that even made a difference, 3 cups just seemed like a lot of flour) We only had half a bag of chocolate chips, but it seemed to be plenty. I also chopped up some heresy kisses (some kind with a melt away center) and tossed those in there. Delicious! =)

Nacho Dip II

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2006
I've never had a nacho dip like this before! It was very easy to make, and was much better than I thought it would be. I added chili with beans, and about 12oz of cheese.

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2006
I loved this dish. I left off the bacon (only because I over-cooked it), But I do think the sauce could of used a little less mustard. Other than that, it was quiet wonderful. All the flavors came together well.
