My cooking triumphs
I consider it a triumph; Last year, for our family reunion, I made a cherry cheesecake, and family memebers I know who don't like cheesecake, thought it was really good!
My cooking tragedies
I decided to make a recipe that was in an Amish cook book we have (which previously I had used, only to find out the book left out a few ingredients!) I follow the directions (which were odd to say the least), pop it in the oven.. Only to catch the baking element on fire! The liquid boiled right over the edges and into the stove!

Colleen's Potato Crescent Rolls
I'm honestly not sure how to rate this, so I'll do so in the middle. I had high hopes, because of all the reviews, but despite how beautiful they looked, they did not taste nearly as good. I cut the recipe in half and followed most of it. I reduced the sugar and used butter instead of shortening (seem not to have any). But all I'm left with is a very weird after taste, like milk. I'm not sure if the reduction in sugar would really make it taste so off, or what it was! Perhaps as a breakfast food, with jam and honey it will taste better.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw
I just made this to go with tonight's dinner of Irish Tacos off this site. For some reason I was thinking this recipe called for 1 pound (wowie!) of coleslaw, and we had a 14 ounce bag, so I pretty much halved everything except the mayo and added WAY more onion (A whole medium one) I'm glad I thought that, because with the 1/4 cup sugar, it was pretty sweet. I couldn't imagine it with 1/2 cup! I used rice wine vinegar instead, and olive oil. Tastes pretty good, and I can't wait to have it on my corned beef tavos tonight!

Whole Wheat Beer Bread
I was craving fresh bread, and we are out of yeast. This was one of the first recipes I found, so I gave it a whirl! It was extremely easy and came out pretty tasty! I used a bottle of Leinenkugel Oktoberfest. I also went by other reviewers suggestion, and poured some melted butter on top, did it the last 10 minutes of baking. My mother, shockingly, didn't like it, and said it didn't taste like bread.. Saying it was probably the wheat flour.. Looks like I'll be eating a good amount of bread this week! I would love to make this again with a different beer every week or so.
