Lentil Soup III

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
I love this soup. It is so easy to make, and you can add vegetables to your liking - I always add carrots and celery. Filling and healthy, this is a great winter soup!

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
This is the best way to eat pumpkin seeds. Very easy, and it makes a delicious snack. I make these every year after carving my pumpkin.

Easy Decadent Truffles

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
I really enjoyed these. They were a bit time consuming to make, but I thought that they came out really well, and it's so easy to play around with different flavors! I included them with gifts to friends, and everyone enjoyed them. They also keep well.

Texas Sheet Cake V

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
This was pretty good. The cake itself is not too sweet, but I think the frosting made the cake - it was awesome. Some of the frosting had soaked into the hole that I had poked in the cake to check if it was done, and that part of the cake was really moist and delicious. So, I think the next time I make this I will try poking several holes in the cake with a fork, and pouring half of the frosting over it and let it soak in before covering the cake with more frosting. Still, as written, a good recipe to have.

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
This cornbread was amazing! I followed others' advice and switched the amounts for the flour and cornmeal, soaked the cornmeal for 10 min., and beat the batter for 5 min. It produced a dense, moist cornbread that everyone loved! I served it with honey butter at a turkey dinner. I will definitely be making this again!

World's Best Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2008
I have made this three times now, and every time it turns out fabulous! I have tried to make other fudges, and they never turn out. Apparently this is my lucky recipe. It's so easy and produces a fantastic product, and I have never had any complaints (even people who don't like peanut butter like this fudge!). Thanks for the great recipe!

Hot Cocoa Mix

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
This stuff was amazing! I cut the recipe in half, and it still made a ton! Even though there is dry milk in the mix, I still mixed it with hot milk and it made the creamiest, dreamiest hot cocoa I have ever tasted!

Whoopie Pies VIII

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
I didn't love this recipe (of course, I could just not love whoopie pies in general). I thought that the cream in the middle had a nice taste - not bland at all. I just wasn't impressed with the cookie part. I think, for me, it wasn't sweet enough. I love sweet deserts, and I thought that this would be one, but after making them (and then reading the reviews) I realized that this probably is not supposed to be very sweet. I took them to a party and people seemed to like them, but didn't go crazy over them - I was trying to give them away at the end of the night.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
Everyone raved about this coleslaw! I used reduced-fat mayo instead of Miracle Whip (MW is just too tangy for me). I also used half rice vinegar and half apple cider vinegar to add more flavor. I reduced the sugar to 1/3 C and added 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper. Fabulous - tasted just like the coleslaw you get at fast food fried chicken places. I will definitely be making this again.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
These were super easy to make and really good to eat! Instead of the glaze listed in this recipe, I frosted the brownies with Chocolate Frosting I from this site, although I must say that I didn't think they even needed to be frosted. Next time I make this I will need to double the recipe, because this definitely did not make enough.

Chocolate Frosting I

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
I made this exactly as written and it was pretty good. It tasted exactly like the frosting that you buy at the grocery store, which I suppose is good, but I was really looking for something better (maybe creamier?).

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
Made these yesterday and EVERYONE loved them! I loved them too - they tasted fabulous (perfect for my chocolate craving) and were super easy to make. I only chilled for about 40 minutes, though, because I was in a hurry to bake them before guests came over - they still turned out great!

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
I made these when I was trying to get rid of some instant oatmeal that I had for a while and they turned out FABULOUS! I followed the advice of other reviewers and increased the flour by 1/2 cup, increased the baking soda by 1/2 Tablespoon, and cut the salt down to 1/2 teaspoon. I also used butterscotch chips instead of chocolate chips. These were gone by the end of the day!

Eclair Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2008
This was very good and very easy to make. And it's so simple to make this your own. I used butterscotch pudding, because that's what I was in the mood for, and I used cinnamon graham crackers which I thought tasted amazing in this dish. As per previous reviews, I heated the frosting and poured it on top. Although it didn't taste much like an eclair due to the changes that I made, we still finished it in 2 days!

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
These were great. I made them for a bake sale, but I ate two before I took them to the sale! They definitely tasted like peanut butter cake. I added chocolate chips to the batter, and covered them with more melted chocolate chips (needed to finish the bag). I think next time I will experiment with adding choc chips and covering with peanut butter frosting. YUM!

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
These lemon bars were great! I followed the directions given by GOURMETMOMMY, with the exception of the food coloring (I thought the color was fine without it - I don't want them to look like neon squares). They were surprisingly easy to make, and I will definitely be making these again.

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
These cookies were pretty good, but I think next time I will add more cocoa powder or decrease the peanut butter. I love peanut butter, but I like my no bake cookies to taste a little more chocolate-y than these were. Texture-wise, these came out perfect! I brought the mixture to a rolling boil and let it go for 1 min (stirring constantly so not to scorch it), and the cookies were nice and chewy.

Magic Peanut Butter Middles

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
These cookies were really good. A nice crunchy chocolate cookies surrounds a creamy, peanut butter middle. I did have issues with my chocolate dough, and I even added 1 Tbsp milk, but it was still dry, and got worse as I continued to use up the dough. I also had way more peanut butter middles. It does take a little bit of time, but don't worry about getting them perfect, because even with these issues these cookies still tasted wonderful. I'm sure I will be making these again.

Marinated Ranch Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2008
This chicken is absolutely delicious! Very moist and flavorful. I substituted the olive oil for FF italian dressing, and I forgot to add in the vinegar (although I suspect the vinegar would make the chicken even more tender and juicy). Next time (and I will be making this often) I will add in the vinegar. Thanks for the recipe!
