Fabulous Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
As per other reviews, I omitted the butter. But the cabbage never got sweet; I ended up adding a couple teaspoons of sugar at the end of the cooking process.

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
This was pretty good, but a little bland in taste. I would suggest adding more spices to kick up the flavor.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
Yum! We really enjoyed this. Very easy to make, and very flavorful. I cooked the shrimp in my George Foreman (too cold outside) and served over spaghetti with marinara sauce. Excellent recipe, I will definitely be making this again!

Garlic Broccoli

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
Holy Garlic, Batman! This should be called Super Garlic-y Broccoli. I love garlic, one of my fave restaurants is The Stinking Rose, but this is almost too much for me. My bf could barely eat the few pieces I gave him. I'll probably try again, but cut the dressing in half.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
I used broccolini instead of asparagus, and it was delicious! It was very easy to make, although next time I think I will double the sauce. Definitely brown the butter. Thanks for the great recipe!

Green Bean and Feta Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
YUM! Super easy, and super delicious. I did not have red wine vinegar, so I used all rice vinegar, cut down olive oil to 1/4 C, and added a splash of balsamic vinegar along with the Wocestershire. Will definitely be making this again!

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
Very orange-y, not too sweet, though, which was great! Followed the recipe to a T, and thought the coating was perfect. I give this four stars if you eat it on the day it's made, 5 stars if you let it rest for one day in the fridge.

Blackened Tilapia with Secret Hobo Spices

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
This was pretty good. I did not think it was terribly spice as others have said. You MUST drizzle with lemon juice just before serving to bring out the taste (otherwise it is very bland), and you definitely need the 1 T of salt (it sounds like a lot, but it's not). I seared the fish for about 3 min on each side, and then put into the George Foreman to finish cooking. I will try this one again.

Zesty Porcupine Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2010
Wow! I did not expect much as I was making this recipe - it was too simple! But these came out fabulously. I followed the recipe exactly, I would not cut down on the Worchestire (I don't know how to spell it). Even the BF loved this!

This was OK. It really needed sauce. I ended up eating it with catsup.

Chinese Cabbage Salad I

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
My bf's favorite salad is a spinach salad, but I needed to find a different salad to make for him. This is it! Crunchy, slightly sweet, we ate on this several days in a row and he is still requesting it. I will make this often.

BBQ Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
I loved this! Of course, I love anything with BBQ sauce. I did make some pretty significant changes, one of them being I made this in the slow cooker vs. the oven. Super easy, I dumped the meat mixture (with more spices than called for in the recipe) into the slow cooker, and topped it with canned biscuits since I didn't have any biscuit mix. Next time I'm going to top the biscuits with honey, as another reviewer suggested. Sounds great!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2010
What an excellent, and easy!, way to make chicken and dumplings! I added a bag of frozen peas and carrots and a cup of frozen corn to make it more of a one-pot meal. I also used less than one can of biscuits. I cut the biscuits into quarters and layered them on the top (FYI, it took an additional three hours on low to cook the biscuits) - it came out more like a chicken pot pie than chicken and dumplings, but it's absolutely delicious. Perfect and filling for a cold day!
