Peanut Butter Easter Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2011
I made these yesterday with a friend. They were fun to make, but I was disappointed in the outcome. Maybe I should have made them smaller, because I felt the chocolate to peanut butter ratio was off. My friend thought that they were pretty good, but not excellent. Also, did not need to chill the peanut butter eggs before dipping them in chocolate. I think I will stick with Reese's.

Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2011
I made this in the slow cooker so that I could come home to it tonight. OMG, it was wonderful. The kitchen smelled great, and the soup was delicious. I used a goat cheese and sun-dried tomato ravioli in lieu of tortellini. The thing I like about this is that you can play around with different tortellini flavors and different sausage flavors. Thanks for a great recipe!

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
This is good, but I didn't think it was extraordinary. It does make the chicken super moist, but I thought it lacked in flavor. I will probably use this again as a basic base marinade, and make a separate sauce for after grilling.

Chicken Hurry

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
Soooo good! And so easy! I just put the sauce together, let the chicken sit in it for 8 hours, and threw the whole thing in the oven for 45 min. Delicious! The sauce is mouth-watering. I will make this often.

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
I really enjoyed the sweet and tangy flavor that this marinade made. Also, after marinating for 8 hours, my chicken was so moist and tender - I real departure from my usual! However, the best this about this recipe is the fact that I already have all of the ingredients on hand, so I can make this almost any time without advance notice. I baked this because it's too cold to grill. And, I think I may play with the mustard, and maybe use a combo of dijon and honey mustard next time, just to see.

Sour Cream Burgers

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2011
First of all, these were very tasty, but very wet. I could see that the mixture was wet, so I decided to make this as meatballs instead of patties, hoping they would have a better chance of staying together. Even as meatballs, they completely fell apart. So I added them into a marinara sauce, and they completely enhanced the flavor of the sauce, so it was still quite good. Finally, I will admit that I added in a packet of ranch dressing (something I had seen in a previous recipe), and I think that really made this recipe. If I make this again, I think I will use oatmeal instead of bread crumbs (may help to keep their shape), or more meat, or both.

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
Simple, yet delicious. This gravy brought back memories from childhood. And it's so versatile! I have even used just plain ground turkey, added in my own spices, and then continued with the recipe as written. I do not double the sauce because I like to have lots of chunks of meat in my gravy.

Snow Ice Cream II

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2011
My mom made this for us kids when we were young, and now I love to share it with my nieces and nephews. This is much better suited for kids because it's more about the novelty than the taste.

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Perfect buttercream. Very stable and easy to frost cakes and cupcakes. Tastes just like what you find in store bakeries.

Cabbage Beef Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
I really enjoyed this! I replaced the beef with MS veggie crumbles, and replaced the beef bouillon with chicken bouillon (what I had available), but I don't think those changes were very drastic from the original recipe. Hearty, yet not heavy, filling, and you can feel good about it. I'm sure I will be making this often!

Quick and Almost-Professional Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
This tasted exactly like the buttercream you taste on cakes from stores. Followed this recipe to a T, and it came out great. I personally don't care for plain vanilla buttercream, so I think needs better flavoring, but this is the best base recipe I have found so far.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
I thought these were fairly tasty and very filling, but I was the only one who really enjoyed them. My family thought it was O.K. for a new, unique meal, but I was not asked to make them again.

Beans, Beans, and Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
OK, I know I'm not supposed to review if I changed the recipe, but these were THE MOST amazing beans I have had outside of an authentic BBQ restaurant. First of all, the only things that I changed were 1) I omitted the meat because I wanted a vegetarian-friendly side dish, and 2) I just dumped everything in the slow cooker and let it cook on low for a few hours. AMAZING!!! I will be making these beans often because EVERYONE raved about them. Thanks for the fabulous recipe!

Chicken Puffs

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
These were great - filling little appetizers that everyone enjoyed! I did make a few changes (I just can't help myself!), and, maybe I overstuffed my crescent rolls, but I only used 2 8oz cans. A bit time consuming, but I will probably be making this again when we have a cocktail party.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Made these last night for a party, and everyone loved them! I dipped the smokies in brown sugar than tossed more brown sugar on top during cooking. I was in a rush to get ready so I didn't bother turning them and just let them bake for 45 min - they came out great!

Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Wow! This took me a total of 5 min to make (only about 2 min in the microwave). The key is to micro at one-min intervals and to stir vigorously! That way the ingredients won't separate. I used mostly milk chocolate to make it a little more kid-friendly.

Vegan Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
I don't like chocolate cake, but this was great! I used whole wheat flour, replaced the sugar with 3/4 C agave nectar (this gives it a slightly weird aftertaste, but good for people concerned about spikes in blood sugar), and added a teaspoon instant coffee to the 1 C of water. Next time I will replace the oil with applesauce to make it even more healthy. I love eating cake without feeling guilty! Thanks for the great recipe!

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
This was amazing. I admit, I did not follow the recipe exactly, and I know how irritating this can be for some people. I did not add the eggs because I didn't want it to be too much like a casserole. I replaced the Muenster with Mozzarella because that's what I had. I didn't add the extra tablespoon of butter to the top before baking because I ran out. Still, turned out wonderfully and everyone loved it. Super easy, too. I will definitely make this again!
