Apple Crisp II

Excellent! I followed the recipe exactly, and it was very tasty. We used Cortland apples fresh picked from a local apple orchard.

Flax and Sunflower Seed Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2010
Possibly the best bread I've made! Delicious! The only substitution I made was for ground flax seed instead of whole. I did reduce the total amount of flax seeds to a quarter cup since I was using the ground instead of the whole. Turned out great!

Hot and Sour Chinese Eggplant

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2010
I agree with previous reviewers - excellent sauce! I did double it. I added green onions to it as well, and a little dark sesame oil because I like the flavor of that; it would have been fine without it though. Next time will plan to add a little onion and garlic as recommended in the past.

Oven Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2010
Delicious! Made just as directed. I left off the dill because I'm not a big fan of it, but they tasted great!

Butter Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
Great recipe!! Tastes delicious! Way cheaper than prepared Indian dishes bought at the store. Also, easy weekday recipe - you can prepare the potatoes, onions and garlic ahead of time. You can also mix the spices ahead of time. Then, just mix it all together, takes about 10 minutes. We will make this one of our regular meals.

The Best Vegetarian Chili in the World

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2006
By far the best recipe for vegetarian chili I've come across. It's become a regular for me, and I've made it several times. I like to make a big batch of the chili and then freeze individual portions - it freezes very well - and then I have several quick, homeade, delicious lunchs. I typically will just toss everything into my crockpot and let it simmer all day, that has worked well for me. The only changes I make are that don't used chickpeas, instead I just double either the black beans or kidney beans, or whatever other beans I have on hand, and then I also like to add about 12 ounces of tomato paste, simply because I like a tomato based chili. I can't say enough about how much I love this recipe!

Cheddar Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2006
Overall, this is a good recipe. I loved the parsely, it gave the dish color and flavor. However, I felt I could taste the eggs too much for my liking and it was pretty bland overall. My partner loved it, and I will make it again, but with a litte more spice.

World's Greatest Vegetable Broth

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2006
I can't decide which is better: The smell of the roasting vegetables through the house or the taste of the broth! Very good.

Lentil Loaf

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2006
I have made this twice, the first time exactly as written, and it was a little too salty. The second time I followed the others' reviews and used ketchup instead of tomato paste, as well as water instead of vegetable broth. This turned a so-so recipe into an amazing recipe. This will become a staple in my house. One note: be sure to let the loaf cool for a while before trying to remove it from the pan...the first time I removed it too soon and fell apart. The second time I let it cool for a while and it held together nicely. Adding another egg might solve this problem too if you're not going to have time to let it cool, but I haven't tried it.
