Vegan Whole Wheat Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2013
I needed something dairy free so I tried these. I was very pleasantly surprised! I love using coconut oil and I had some almond milk that I had made. I didn't have any stevia so I used a little coconut palm sugar. They don't really rise much so don't expect that. They are very good, though.

Chef John's Salmon

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2012
an excellent, yet simple, recipe. My kids (2, 4, and 6) ate it very well. I used basil and thyme for the herbs because that's what I had growing outside

The Best Clam Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2012
This was really excellent. I made it for a dinner guest and got rave reviews!! The only thing I added was some crushed red pepper and a splash of heavy cream. I'm sure it's equally good without these things but my husband insisted. I will certainly be making this again and I'm sure it will be requested. I served this with the white wine I used in the recipe, some garlic bread, and parmesan baked tomatoes instead of a standard salad. Excellent!

Overnight Blueberry French Toast

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2011
perfect for our father's day breakfast! Everyone loved it! I made it as written except instead of 1c sugar in the syrup I used 1/2c maple syrup. Perfect!

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
wonderful! My first attempt at french bread and I was so happy! I followed the directions exactly except I used an egg white to brush on top instead of the egg yolk and I didn't roll it out. I just shaped it and got the air out. I'll probably make this again tonight!

Idaho Potato Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2010
wow, I never would have thought to put potatoes in a cake but it's really good! I followed the recipe exactly minus the nuts.

Tomato Pie I

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
this was really, really good! I used heirloom tomatoes and salted them so they would give off some of their moisture prior to assembly of the pie. Other than that, I followed the recipe exactly. My husband and I agree on five stars! Tomato pie sounds boring but this dish is far from it.

Amazing White Clam Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2010
really excellent sauce! I served it for company (using heavy cream as other reviewers suggested) with salad and garlic bread. I thought the heat was great but it could certainly be too much for some so be careful.

Lemon Blueberry Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2010
very moist and a nice lemon flavor. I followed the recipe exactly (omitting the nuts because we don't care much for them). It was more like a moist cake than a bread which was actually what I was hoping for. Will make again soon!

Cinnamon Sugar Butter Cookies II

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2010
Everyone loved these. I made them exactly as written with the exception of using light brown sugar instead of dark brown, simply because I didn't have any. They stayed soft inside with slightly crispy edges and a nice cinnamon/sugar flavor.

Awesome Baked Sea Scallops

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2010
This was good as written but I think it could be much better. After tasting these I added freshly grated parmesan cheese which drastically improved the flavor but it would have been better baked in with the breadcrumb mixture. I also think adding some seasoning like Old Bay or something similar to the butter and garlic mixture would be excellent. The cooking time was perfect so the texture of the scallops was great.

No-Cream Pasta Primavera

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
This was wonderful and light for Easter brunch. I would reduce the cook time on the veggies a little because they were pretty limp, but the flavors made up for anything lacking in texture.

Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2010
really good and surprisingly easy! The only things I changed were using honey instead of sugar in the dough and molasses instead of sugar in the boiling water. They were slightly crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I can imagine they will only get better as I experiment with toppings and add ins.

Yogurt-Marinated Salmon Fillets (Dahi Machhali Masaledar)

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2010
A nice change of pace for preparation of salmon. We liked it but I was a little disappointed because I expected more flavor. The kids (2 and 4) didn't eat it at all and they do eat salmon prepared other ways.

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
excellent frosting! It went over much better with the family than a too sweet buttercream. I used it on a fresh strawberry cake from this site and everyone loved it. I did add an extra 1/2 c of powdered sugar per other's suggestions. It wasn't quite as 'sturdy' as I expected but I was still able to frost and pipe with it and I did store the cake in the fridge. Overall, and excellent frosting that I will use again and again.

Maple Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
This was an excellent tasting bread and it made a beautiful loaf. I like that there is no refined sugar in it. You won't miss it! I used vanilla extract instead of maple only because I didn't have maple. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly, minus the topping.

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
I used apple cider instead of water which made perfect applesauce without adding sugar! My kids (as well as my husband and myself) loved it! I can't believe I had never made applesauce before now. So easy!
