Me & Hubby
About this Cook
Having 3 girls under 5 makes cooking a challenge, but fun. I usually have a "helper" alongside. I love cooking and am a type A personality, so I like to have the kinks worked out in a recipe for my picky eater hubby. I really love this site as I have more hits!
My favorite things to cook
I generally keep homemade hummus every other week or so. It is so easy and a great snack. If it includes tomatoes, I'll try it. We are really into chicken and ways to make hearty meals on a budget.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our 'secret' Cuban Black Beans. There is also a Moho sauce to go over it that I am trying to obtain. I have a book of another Grandmother's recipes that I love to comb through- banana pudding comes to mind.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest hit so far is my Spanish Bean Soup. Maybe I'll get around to posting it on here. I get requests to bring my hummus too when we are going to a crowd event.
My cooking tragedies
Wow, once I tried to make buscuits from scratch and switch the baking soda for the power or visa versa and they all tasted like pretzels shaped like buscuits. We all had a good laugh. Now I use Busquick!

Strawberry Cake from Scratch
Looks beautiful. Followed given suggestions for sifting flour, separating eggs and made a buttercream frosting with strawberry puree. Delish!

The Best and Cheesiest Artichoke Dip
I added a generous amount of minced garlic and used an Italian mixture of cheese. The bowl was licked clean! Will use often as it was so easy!

Pinto Bean Chili
Added Garlic and soaked beans overnight. Very good. Wanted more salt too at the end. Did not make the quesadillas, we used it for Chili 5 Way.
