Rhubarb Dream Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2006
These bars were great. Everyone loved them. I did cut back a little on the sugar, though. My dad and husband raved about them all weekend!

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2006
This salad was really good. I made it for a dinner with our neighbors and left out the salami and added red onion. The reviews were great from them - the neighbor guy who said he didn't usually care for pasta salads liked it enough to have a second helping!

Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2006
This recipe was just OK. I used a stoneware loaf pan, maybe that made the difference. The cake tasted good, but the outside of it was too dark by the time the middle was done. I probably will use one of my other pound cake recipes next time.

Blueberry-Lemon Crumb Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2006
These bars were just OK. I probably will not make them again, however I took them to a picnic and most everyone else seemed to think they were good. Not enough flavor in the crust and crumb topping for my husband and I. I did add pecans to the topping - those tasted good - a little toasted from baking. Just not our thing, I guess.

Nana's Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2006
This is not as good as my regular apple crisp recipe. In my opinion, it needed WAY more apples and spices and less topping. That was after I sprinkled extra cinnamon, some ginger and cloves on top of the apples. Next time, I'll stick with my old stand-by recipe....

Mother's Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2006
We really liked this recipe! I left out the green pepper, only sauteed the onion in 1 Tblsp. butter and sprinkled the cheese on top - all out of sheer laziness! I also left the bread crumbs off totally. We all thought this was good. It was a little thin, but maybe because of all of my changes. Will make this again.

Cinnamon Sugar Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2006
These were very good - my kids and husband all really liked them. The dough was a bit crumbly and I had a hard time getting it to roll into logs, but overall very, very yummy! I will be making another batch or two again today for my Christmas cookie boxes to give away.

Pork Chalupas

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2007
This recipe was fantastic! We love Mexican food, but have trouble finding it anywhere since our favorite Mexican restaurant went out of business. I will be making this often, but I think I'll cut back on the salt just a bit.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
This was the first dish empty at our Christmas Eve get together. It was very good and easy to make. I don't know how many times I was asked for the recipe. I added the extra jalapenos and 1/4 c. bread crumbs to spread and 1/4 c. bread crumbs on top as others suggested...also baked at 350 for 20 minutes. I will definitely make this again and again!

Italian Ribs and Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
This was really good stuff! I only had diced tomatoes with green chilies on hand, so I used that. It turned out great! Will be making this again....

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: May 12, 2009
These brownies were excellent! Half of the pan was gone before they were totally cooled. I will definitely be using this recipe again. Way better than my usual brownies.

Easy Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: May 12, 2009
I made these last night and they were pretty good. I made a few changes to the original recipe, though. I cut back on the cheese, omitted the can of soup, and only used about 1 1/2 cups sour cream. I also added a can of ro-tel tomatoes with green chiles and 1/2 tsp. cumin to the chicken mixture. I spread a 1/2 can of enchilada sauce in the bottom of the pan and poured the other half over the top. With all of my alterations they were a great hit with my family of 5. Thanks for the base recipe!

Peach Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
This pie was great! I made it to use up some peaches on my counter - husband and kids were thrilled. They wanted to finish the whole thing on the spot. Not too sweet, but I only used 3/4 cup sugar. Also, baked at 350 for about an hour. It was perfect- light & fruity!

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
This is the best cream cheese frosting I have ever made! I made 1/2 the recipe to frost 18 pumpkin cupcakes and I had just a little extra, which was great on graham crackers as a before bed snack! I had to refrigerate it for a little while so it was stiff enough to spread nicely, but then it was perfect.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
I made this with a few changes recently. I used a 6 1/2 lb. turkey breast in a 6 qt. slow cooker. In spite of me, it stayed moist and tender. (I forgot about it and left it on high for 5 hours) It was ready way before the meal was, but stayed great! The left over didn't last long either. This is how I plan on making the Thanksgiving bird, too. Excellent! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe!

Absolute Best Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
I made this the other day when I realized I was almost out of real maple syrup. We all liked the taste, but it was pretty foamy. Just for us that was fine. I refrigerated it overnight and warmed it the next morning - it stayed a bit foamy. Not sure how to clear it. Any ideas? I'd make it again in a pinch.

Chicken Soup II

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
We had a soup buffet for my daughter's birthday party and this was one of the three. I'm sorry to say that this seemed to be the least favorite. It was pretty good, but a lot salty to my taste. I'd make it again with some alterations, I guess.

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
I made this for my daughter's birthday soup buffet. This and a creamy chicken rice soup were the hit of the party. Definitely a favorite of my husband and daughter! Great with lots of veggies - I put as many as my pot would hold. Thanks for the great recipe!

Tex-Mex Burger with Cajun Mayo

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
I made these for our New Year's Eve at home. Did not add the chopped jalapeno, because we had a date with the kids, too. Otherwise I followed the recipe and broiled them - my grill was 'unavailable' that December 31st evening! They turned out great and even the kids loved them. I'm keeping this recipe for sure -thanks for sharing!

Strawberry Ice

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
This recipe was very easy to make. Maybe my strawberries were sweeter than some, but I'll cut back a bit on sugar next time. My kids are looking forward to using blueberries and raspberries for this in the next few weeks. We'll for sure be making this again and doing a little experimenting, too!
