About this Cook
I have been married to the love of my life for the past (almost) 23 years and we have three young adult kids. I have always been a little on the creative side and that shows up in my cooking. I love to bake and cook and have been decorating cakes for many years too.
My favorite things to cook
I guess if I HAVE to chose something I would say I love to cook Mexican and Italian dishes most. I love the taste of these foods so preparing them is more fun. I also love to bake cakes, cookies, bars, anything dessert-like.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I remember cooking a lot growing up. Don't really remember much traditional cooking but my mom taught me to cook and bake and I have passed that to my daughter and she is now quite good.
My cooking triumphs
I would say my best cooking triumph is when my husband brags, "Why go out to eat when I can get the best food on the island right at home!" That makes me feel pretty good.
My cooking tragedies
There was that one time when I tried to make rye bread with 100% rye flour. Bad idea!!! I didn't know at the time that rye flour by itself is unstable and makes a very dense loaf. Had to throw that one away!

Hot Fudge Sauce II
I made this the first time using exactly what the recipe called for and it was incredible but the 83 grams of fat (in the entire recipe) bothered me. I tried it again and used fat free half and half and it was again, incredible. I honestly could not even tell it was made without the cream. (I used about 3/4 cup of half and half instead of the full cup since it is thinner than cream.) My hubby said it was better than anything you can buy from the store. The fat is incredibly low with only that from the butter. Try it with the FF half and half--you might be surprised! Thanks for the great recipe!

Garlic and Onion Burgers
These are so good! I changed the recipe a little by adding twice as much worcestershire and omiting the salt and Italian seasoning. They were moist and delicious but not too salty--perfect. In fact we are having them for dinner again tonight. Thanks, great recipe!

Turkey Mercedes
My family and guests loved this and raved about it. It was so moist and flavorful and tender! I marinated and cooked it in the roasting bag as another reviewer did and I think that helped as well--not that it needed any help, it was yummy. My family is already asking for this recipe for the christmas turkey. Thanks for the great recipe!
