My favorite family cooking traditions
My family usually does a pot luck for big holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'd like to revive a birthday tradition for my great nieces and nephews. My grandmother use to make us a homemade cake of our choosing. We looked forward to that each year.
My cooking triumphs
most of what I cook is a triumph. If I have a good recipe and good instructions I can cook it.
My cooking tragedies
burnt some cookies a few times. Oh yeah, cheese sauces. They don't like me.

Slow Cooker Ribs
These were good however I'm going to have to work on seasoning the meat to my taste. My husband and daughter loved them. I thought they could use a little more flavor. The ribs were very tender but the sauce was not sticky like I like. Maybe reducing the liquids a bit would give the sauce a better consistency. This is a good and easy recipe, one you can adjust to your liking. Give it a try.

Tasty Collard Greens
I made these greens and I have to say they were delicious. This was my first time making fresh greens. All the flavors worked together wonderfully. The only change I made was that I sprinkled red pepper flakes into my greens instead of adding a whole tablespoon. That seemed like a bit much so I sided on caution. You won't be disappointed with this recipe. Can't wait till I make them again. Enjoy.

Cheese Ravioli with Three Pepper Topping
This was a surprisingly delicious dish. It was so simple that I wondered if what I was putting together was going to really taste like anything, but boy was I surpised. I used vegetable stock instead of chicken as I was in the middle of a fast (no meats). Still the dish came together and was very flavorful. My husband loved it.
