Basil Shrimp

Totally great- wonderful summer dish serve with tomato/fresh mozz salad and and some super crusty rolls and white wine. YUM. Or over angel hair pasta dressed with high quality olive oil, fresh parm and S&P keep the rolls and wine! This shrimp was the hands down favorite dish at our large three day family reunion filled with good food.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
I really wanted to love this recipe because who doesn't want a cake made of sour cream and Kahlua this simple to be the answer to all chocolate cake dilemmas. Sadly it was not- just another box cake trying hard not to taste like a box cake and failing.

Harvest Rice Dish

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
First time I made this it was great- I used homemade organic chicken stock. The second time I made this I used College Inn chicken stock and it was pretty bad- If you make this use only the freshest ingredients and real stock and its wonderful- otherwise don't bother. (And I often used canned products this isn't just snobbery talking)

French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
Very very good. I only had Better Then Bullion for the beef broth and Williams Sonoma chicken base for the chicken stock- and it still was so so good. My husband who is a mad french onion soup lover thought this was on par with the best he's had out.

Mushroom Orzo

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
This is GREAT. Really delicious way to serve orzo with practically any main dish. I agree this is better than risotto and fairly fail-safe. Have made it for company and everyone went back for seconds.

Renaissance Stuffed Mushrooms

My husband loved these. Would be yummy with sausage for non-vegetarians. Maybe sausage on the side?

Love all of these marinade ingredients, but thought the fish was only so-so.

Strawberry Champagne Punch

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
Very nice- even with adding more champage didn't taste of alcohol, nor does it really give you a buzz- great for an afternoon event, or an evening with light drinkers.

Mediocre, no one ate it at my Oscar party. Not terrible, but not very good either.

Bacon Cheddar Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
I made these and people at my oscar party LOVED them- I thought they were fine. I did partially pre-cook the bacon and thought that perhaps I cooked it too long- in the end product the pepper was barely softened- I will do these again without pre-cooking the bacon or I'll try reducing the amount of pre-cook time on the bacon.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
Very good. Reduced the garlic and added shallot per several other reviews. I also didn't have the oil-packed sun dried tomatoes, just dry packed so I added the full amount of olive oil and thought it just the right amount of oil.

Brownie Caramel Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2006
Very good. Warning it doesn't seem as if the recipe will work because the layers seem to get mixed up as you pour the caramel and the cream cheese, but it magically separated in the oven. Also the caramel layer seemed a bit runny- I will be reducing the amount of condensed milk the next time I make this.

Award Winning Peaches and Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2006
Turned out well, made it as recipe was written and didn't feel the crust needed to be pre-cooked. A bit too much cinnamon and sugar on the top- I really liked it, but I'd probably reduce it by half. Also I needed to cook it the full length of the cooking time for the center of the cream cheese to set.

BLT Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2006
This was an excellent idea, however the dressing was WAY to garlicy for my kids and even a bit intense for me. I'd reduce the garlic powder by at least half, maybe more. I also skipped the croutons and went for a nice crusty warm portuguese roll with butter instead- Yummm!

Sausage Gravy I

very good- added more salt because had to use butter instead of bacon grease as didn't have bacon- perhaps the bacon grease provides the needed salt

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2006
Just as advertized- Big and light and delicious- I agree that 3/4 cups milk is not enough and 1 cup milk is too much- probably depends on whether you sift the flour. I needed to cook these for the full 15 minutes, bottoms were perfect, used an air bake cookie sheet.
