Halibut with Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2010
delicious! i've made this a couple of times since it is quite easy and i don't fair well with fish (as in, i can't seem to cook fish right). but this is a no brainer! i don't have a grill so i also used an oven. baked at 400 degrees for 25-30 mins and placed it under the broiler for 3 mins. i also used 3/4 t dill instead of the basil and thyme. squeezed a little lemon on top... amazing! also found it so rich as is, didn't need the extra sauce on the side.

Flavorful Flounder

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2010
wow... so flavourful! now i see why it's in the name. ;) super easy to make. absolutely delicious. the only thing i changed was omitting the salt, since parmesan is already so salty, and it was perfect. thanks!

Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
amazing! i took the roast out at 140 degrees and after tenting for 10 mins, it went up to 150... a bit too medium for us. next time (and there will definitely be a next time!) will take it out at 135 and hope to see medium rare! but still very tender and melt in your mouth texture. overall an easy dinner that impressed guests who wondered if i had been slaving all afternoon. while roast we sitting in the oven, i prepared a salad, mashed potatoes, veggies, garlic toast and gravy in under an hour.

One Dish Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2009
i found this to be a bit on the salty side but it could be because i subbed condensed onion soup for the cream of mushroom. otherwise still very tasty and easy to make. the chicken turned out super moist!

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2009
so delicious! i baked it in an angel food cake pan for 1.5 hours and it was perfectly done. very moist. i sifted my flour 3 times as per another review, added a tad more vanilla and covered the pan at an hour and 20 mins as i didn't want it to brown too much. also topped with a lime glaze. yum!

Sylvia's Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
we usually use the baby back ribs recipe on this site but i had run out of barbeque sauce and couldn't marinate the ribs overnight. so i found this recipe which didn't need overnight prep and we found it tastier and more tender than the other recipe. albeit more work but worth it! i estimated all the ingredients and after baking as instructed, i basted the ribs with the rest of the sauce and placed it under the broiler until the sauce carmelized. delish!

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
this was quite yummy... very moist. i used 2/3 beef and 1/3 pork and grated the onion. i also doubled the sauce but lessened the mustard as per another review. very easy but it took about 1 hour 20 mins to reach an internal temp of 165 degrees.

Hot Fudge Sauce II

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
at first i thought it was awfully thin for a hot fudge sauce, but once it cooled onto my ice cream... it was exactly what i wanted. ooey gooey and delicious! i just used baker's chocolate this time but will definitely try it with a better quality chocolate like a scharffen berger. can hardly wait!

Chicken with Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
This recipe was exactly what I was looking for. So many chicken and mushroom recipes use cream of mushroom soup. I served this with couscous and asparagus. Yum! Thanks for sharing.

Creamed Spinach II

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2008
I was expecting this to taste like cream of mushroom soup but it didn't at all. I was pleasantly surprised. My 2 yr old who dislikes veggies, gobbled it up and kept asking for more. I used fresh spinach, minced garlic and parmesan cheese as others had suggested. Yummy. Will make this again.

Golden Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
This was quite delicious. I didn't have condensed golden mushroom soup so I substituted condensed onion soup, omitted the onions, and doubled the mushroom. As suggested by others, I seasoned the chops with salt and pepper, dredged in flour and seared them for a couple mins on both sides in a frying pan. I removed the chops and sauteed the mushrooms. Then I added the chops back to the pan and poured in the can of soup. I put the lid on and put the whole thing into the oven. I served it with mashed potatoes and peas. Not a single bite leftover! Thanks for sharing.

These were great. My only complaint is that it took more like 30 mins to bake.

Chicken Stew with Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
I think I love the idea of dumplings more than I actually like them. I found these quite bland but liked the ease of making them. Not sure what was missing. I also found the stew was quite dry by the end but it was very flavorful. Perhaps I added too many potatoes. Might make this again since I enjoyed the stew and my 18 month old loved the dumplings.

Campbell's Kitchen Chicken Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
Very quick and easy to make and I threw in some peas for some veggies. Don't expect it to taste gourmet or anything. It is what it is.

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2007
Too much Parmesan cheese which makes for a very thick sauce. I cut it down by about a half. Otherwise very simple and tasty. I also add some spinach to make it a bit healthier. ;)

Hawaii Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
i would give this a 5 star but i didn't follow the recipe. i'm giving the 4 stars for the sauce. i've made this several times and every time instead of cutting up a whole chicken, i slice up chicken breasts into large chicken strips, sprinkle them with salt and pepper, coat them in flour, egg wash then panko (japanese bread crumbs) and pan fry them in vegetable oil. i then remove them from the pan and stirfry the onion in the same pan (i don't normally add green pepper) and make the sauce according to the recipe. then i add the chicken strips back and cover and cook for another couple of minutes to heat through. Still a bit crispy. Absolutely delicious!

Chicken Noodle Casserole II

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2007
This was super quick to make and I halved the recipe but I had to drastically alter it because I was making it for my 1 yr old. I left out the onion and crackers. I substituted freshly grated Parmesan for the cheddar (because it was moldy!), halved the sour cream and added 1/2 a can of chicken broth because I was nervous about the noodles not cooking. I also covered it while it baked because I didn't have any cheese to top it with and the noodles were sticking out of the sauce. After 30 mins in the oven, I still found the noodles a bit undercooked. I was short on time so I just stuck a small portion in the microwave for 30 secs and it was much better. Even with the changes, my baby girl loved it and gobbled it all up. I will definitely try the recipe as is the next time but will probably add more broth to help cook the noodles. Thanks!

Spinach Tomato Tortellini

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
Very easy and I imagine it would be tastier if I added the salt and pepper. Since I was also making this for my 1yr old (she loved it BTW and danced after every bite) I left the S&P out. I also used half and half instead of milk & cream. I found it a bit thicker than I would have liked. I will probably not add as much flour next time and more spinach and Parmesan. The recipe also made a lot of sauce. Probably enough for twice the amount of tortellini Otherwise, delicious meatless meal.

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2006
Wow... this cake is so moist and delicious and so simple to make. I added 1T instant coffee to the boiled water to enhance the chocolate and I used very good cocoa. I also iced it with Cream Cheese Frosting II (also added cocoa to make it more chocolatey... as if it needed it) and it was perfect. YUM!
