Easy Alfredo Sauce II

This was awesome! I did add some garlic powder to the butter mixture. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but as soon as I mixed it in with the pasta, it became instantly smooth and creamy. I used portabella mushroom stuffed tortelloni purchased at the grocery store refrigerator section for my pasta. This is a keeper! Thanks Becky.

Jambalaya Salad

I really liked this salad. My hubby wants more meat next time. I did use frozen shrimp as others recommended. I used more spices than in the recipe such as red pepper,Old Bay seasoning, and more minced garlic. I like the flavor of this salad at room temp. better than cold. Next time I make it I am going to add more cooked bacon right before serving. I don't like soggy bacon.

Chocolate 'N' Oat Bars

Yummy for your tummy! I had to increase the butter to 1 stick plus 2 tablespoons because the mixture was too dry otherwise. I used almonds and walnuts for the nuts and substituted milk chocolate chips for semisweet. Super easy to make. I did spray my pan with no-stick cooking spray and the bars came out very nicely. This is definetly a recipe I would make again.

Festive Shortbread

I was in the mood to experiment with a recipe that I could use to make cookies on a stick. This was a winner. Nice buttery flavor and the sticks stayed in the cookies. These also held up to the handling when I iced them. I did add some vanilla to the recipe. I am going to try lemon or almond as well. Thanks for the recipe.

Mashed Potato Cakes

Very good basic recipe. Cooking in the oven was key. I used non stick spray on the cookie sheet. They held their shape and didn't stick to the pan. Let the pancakes cool a few minutes before removing from the sheet like you would a cookie. I'll use this recipe from now on as the base, but will experiment with different herbs, spices or cheeses to see what I can come up with in the future. Thanks for the recipe.

Poor Mamma's Spaghetti

Well, after I put the bread into the olive oil to brown it, there wasn't any reserve oil left for the spaghetti. It was a waste of bread and olive oil. I didn't care for the taste of the bread crumbs either. Sorry.

Boiled Chicken

I make this almost every week. The meat is so tender and flavorful. The meat can be used for salads, casseroles, you name it. The broth can be used for soup, rice, noodles. A very inexpensive yet versatile recipe.

Alabama Fire Crackers

Made the recipe as written and my two cents worth is 5 stars for simplicity, great idea, and cheap. 4 stars because I wanted more "fire" in my cracker. 3 stars because I thought they were too oily. So I gave a total of 4 stars on average. I definitely plan on trying these again to suit my taste. Thank you for your recipe.

Potato Bread III

This is my standard recipe for pizza crust dough. I tweeked it a little by adding less salt and a little more sugar. I use the quick rise yeast instead of the active-dry yeast. I preheat my oven to the warm setting and then shut it off right before I put the bowl of dough, covered with a moist towel, in to rise. I never have trouble with the dough not rising. I just love the flavor of this bread. Very Good!

Sweet Party Mix

This tastes really good! Very easy to make. I used a disposable turkey roasting pan and mixed the dissolved sugar mixture and the cereal mix right in the buttered pan with no mess. I used almonds, cashews, and dried roasted peanuts. I couldn't stop eating this stuff. Very addicting! Your kitchen will smell wonderful while it is baking too. Thankyou for sharing your recipe Bobbi. The only thing I would change next time is to use parchment paper instead of wax paper to cool mix on. I had trouble with the mix sticking to the wax paper.

Sugar Cookie Glaze

2TBS of water is too much, especially if you add flavoring and coloring to the glaze. This is just one of those recipes that you kind of have to play around with to get it just right. I have used glaze recipes before with milk, but once the glaze dried, it had a mottled appearance. This recipe produced a very smooth, shiny and hard finish. I would have given it 5 stars, but I had to play around with it too much.

Half and Halfs

Very clever idea. My kids thought they were cool. The only changes I made were that I made all of the dough at once, took half out and then added the cocoa powder to the other half. I added some white choc. chips to the chocolate dough. Baked at 350 for 12 min. Yummy.

Quacker Jack

This tastes awesome, however the ratio of popcorn to caramel is off and the amount of oil is way too much for popping popcorn. I halved the recipe and the end result was a lot of popcorn that wasn't coated enough with caramel. My peanuts weren't even sticking to the popcorn. I had to go back and make some more caramel to make it look and taste more like Poppycock. The next time I make this I will halve the popcorn, but keep the rest of the ingredients as written. As far as the oil goes, I think I may have used about 4 TBS for 1&1/2 cups popcorn kernels.

Creamy Mushroom Soup

Even though I had to substitute white button mushrooms, and use evaporated milk, this was awesome. I am quite sure it would be even better using the other mushrooms and half and half. I didn't have those in my pantry. I had a pound of button mushrooms that needed used up, so on a whim I made this soup. Super easy and my husband raved about it. I had supper made in less than 30 minutes.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

My husband took these today into work and everyone loved them. A very easy appetizer to prepare. I used thick sliced bacon. It took more than a pound, but looked nice wrapped around the smokies. I also sprayed my baking pan with no-stick cooking spray prior to baking and I had absolutely no messy clean up to fool with. I am going to make these again for Christmas. Thankyou for the recipe!

Kentucky Butter Cake

This is a keeper! Very moist, great texture. My hubby and kids gave it two thumbs up. I am going to use this recipe as a base for a bundt coffee cake and see how it turns out. I did use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke about 6 or 7 holes in the cake and I used a knife around the edges of the pan to allow the butter sauce to soak in. It is so exciting when a recipe turns out so well. Thankyou so much!
