Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
I guess I am a late bloomer to the whole slow cooker craze - let's add to that what my head is saying "Turkey? In a SLOW COOKER?!". I must say though that this was the simplest and best way to do a Thanksgiving turkey. I don't normally eat a lot of meat, much less like to touch it so anything that saves me from having to poke, prod, and smear anything on a piece of raw meat is worth a second look (in my book, anyway). The turkey was so tasty and moist. It was unbelievable. My whole family LOVED it. We didn't even have any leftovers...and it was requested for Christmas dinner - yes, instead of ham. I did do as other reviewers suggested and added a few pats of butter and a few shakes of poultry seasoning. Other than those oh so labor intensive extras (ha ha), all else was spot on. Thanks for sharing! This recipe really saved a lot of time and hassle on the holidays. I was able to spend much much more time enjoying things rather than running around like crazy trying to get everything just right.

Best 4 minute prep recipe I've ever used. Only had olive oil on hand and everything came out superb. Otherwise, followed recipe to a 'T'. Thanks so much for sharing!

Easy Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
So easy, so good. Did as another user did when I realized there was nothing even remotely close to 'lemon' in the house- other than the packet of lemonade mix. REALLY made the lemon flavor pop. Will definitely be making these cookies again. Thanks for sharing!

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
Loooove this recipe! It reminds me of Tin Star's Lettuce Wraps! I didn't have the pickled ginger and ended up using ground ginger as it was the only thing on hand. I also had to omit the green onions because I was out. Out of curiosity I added a couple Tbl of chopped cilantro. All I can say is FANTASTIC!!! Hubby says it's a keeper. Thanks so much for getting me started. Your recipe is awesome!

Mock Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: May 5, 2010
This was exceptionally good for a "mock" anything. I can't believe how simple it was to make and just how closely it resembled CFS. Tip- you do not want to crush the crackers to finely. A medium blend is perfect for this recipe. My family prefers this to real CFS now because we actually know whats under the breading. This is awesome served with a pepper gravy or country gravy. Simple recipe. Excellent likeness. Will absolutely be sharing with family and friends. Thanks for sharing!!!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
EXCELLENT RECIPE! Slow cookers and I are not normally friends, but this has given me a leg-up on my soon to be slow-cookin' sidekick. I used a chuck roast and followed the recipe to the letter. Did not experience any issues with saltiness. The flavor was nice and rich and full bodied. Made excellent gravy for the veggies I made on the side. Thanks for posting such an easy and excellent recipe. Will be a permanent addition to my recipe box!!!

Fish Tacos

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
Let me start off by saying that fish and tacos are not a natural affiliation for me. However, this recipe is unbelievable. My husband and 1 year old eat these tacos. We have tried grilled and fried fish and LOVE both. I have to admit that I cheated once as well- used store bought fried fish. Was still good, but much better when fresh. We didn't have any shredded cabbage on hand the first time around, but did the rest as indicated. Turned out better than expected. Must give credit where credit is due. This is a great recipe- especially if it can turn non-fish eaters into fish eaters. Thanks!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
These pancakes are awesome! They are so light and fluffy and flavorful that my daughter eats them without syrup. We now keep a batch in the freezer for those busy mornings when homemade pancakes just aren't on the menu. 30 seconds in the mic. and they're good as gold. Thanks for the great recipe! ***** Addition: 1/12/2010- Here we are still using this recipe and it is as good as ever. I do not use the shortening but use 2 TBL veg. oil and 1/8C applesauce. Still good as gold. My daughter is still eating them for breakfast and loving every bite!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
This was such a good recipe! The pancakes come out light and fluffy, rise very well, and are excellent. I made one batch completely as is and another with a couple of my own touches. In my own batch I simply doubled this recipe, but instead of regular flour used an equal part of whole wheat flour, in doubling the butter I did a 1:1 melted butter to veg. oil mix (applesauce in place of the "oils" in the recipe also tastes very good), and in doubling the milk (I used skim milk in the original recipe), I substituted 1/2C of Half & Half for only 1/2C of the skim milk. Both ways the recipe came out excellent. These pancakes absolutely drink-up the syrup so be sure to have lots on hand. This is our new base recipe for all pancakes now. We have used this for blueberry, chocolate chip, and fruit & nut. They are all great! I now make them in advance and freeze them for quick and easy breakfasts. It only takes a few seconds in the mic. & you're good to go. Thanks so much for such a great recipe.

The World's Best Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
My husband and I do not drink so when I saw "champagne", I was a little hesitant to try this recipe. This was only my second time to ever prepare a Thanksgiving turkey on my own. I couldn't be more happy that I tried this recipe. Since I only have two of us to cook for, I had to alter the recipe just a teeny. We used a 7lb bone-in turkey breast, and a whole onion (I didn't have any apples)-other than that I followed the recipe to the letter. This is by far the way to go when preparing a turkey. You just put everything in the roasting bag, put it all in the oven, and walk away. The turkey was falling off the bone and was the juiciest turkey breast we have ever had. Don't worry if you are not a champagne aficionado. The meat does not retain any of the true champagne flavor and the drippings make a fantastic gravy! The gravy is hearty and full of flavor and has an added tang that is unexpectedly good. I will no longer go to the trouble of preparing turkey in the traditional manner. This recipe is an absolute keeper! Thank you for such a wonderful recipe.

Light and Fresh Dressing

Sorry, but husband and I just didn't care for this dressing. I must say we are rather picky but it seemed like the flavors did not blend well. Sorry again, but thanks for sharing all the same.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2007
Excellent flavor. Reminds me of my great aunt's homemade mac. cheese Texture was a little bit different than the regular creamy macs. Either way was quite good for my first time making this. I might make a couple experimental changes next time but overall this is a good base recipe. Who knows maybe I just need to use a higher fat cottage cheese. I will definitely be trying this again. Thank you.
