Easy Puffed Wheat Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2014
sooo good, I didn't find it too chewy or hard as another reviewer commented but that can also depend on how long you cook your mixture...as soon as it starts to bubble, you are good to go.

Shrimp and Gravy

Reviewed: May 16, 2013
For those worried about fat or calories this recipe is super easy to lighten up...I substituted 4 TBSP(1/4 c) Kirkland real bacon bits for the bacon and used a whole can of evaporated skim milk...otherwise made the the recipe as written (oops, also added a can of mushrooms)and it was delish! Even my picky, shrimp leary children loved it! Wrote it in my recipe calculator and it was really low in fat, cals and high in protein...win-win. Give it a try, you won't be sorry.

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2013
Seeing as I have never made pretzels before I wasn't sure if I could modify them to make them lower fat, lower cal and still have them turn out but tried it anyway...and they were wonderful!! Made the recipe as is with the following substitutions... 1 TBSP Splenda brown sugar blend instead of 2 TBSP regular brown sugar, 2 tsp quick rise yeast instead of the active dry yeast and Becel 64% less fat in place of the butter! I made mine into 16 pretzels and ended up with the following nutritional info...114 cals, 23 g carbs, 1 g fat, and 3 g protein...and sooo worth every bite! My family is insisting I make more tomorrow!

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2012
PHENOMENAL!! Needed a cheesecake for a family BBQ/Birthday supper and decided to try this one as it came up the top rated cheesecake... absolutely lives up to the hype! I changed the crust as didn't have oreo/chocolate crumbs...used graham wafer crumbs with 3/4 c of crushed almonds in it...the almonds with the white chocolate and raspberries...YUMMY! The cheesecake cracked a bit more then I am used to (seems to crack along the swirl lines) but it still presented beautifully with the sauce drizzled over it. My family is insisting I make this again soon!!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
Never have done my stuffing in a slow cooker before and have never added eggs so was a bit leary but it was wonderful.... superb! Everyone loved it. Omited the mushrooms as a few in our family don't like them but otherwise followed the recipe and it was one of the best stuffings I ever made!! I used 2 - 300 gram bags of dried cubes and 1 litre (or 4 c) of chicken broth, stirred it gently a couple times during the 4 1/2 hour cooking time and it was just the perfect moistness! Definitely a keeper!!

White Chip Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
These are exactly the kind of cookies the kids love to get at the bakery...chewy on the outside, moist on the inside...took the advise of a couple of reviewers and decreased the sugar to 2/3 white and 2/3 c brown, otherwise, was perfect the way it was written! Next time going to add macadamia nuts to it!! This one is a most definite keeper...now official the kids 'favoritest' cookie!

Hearty Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
Other reviewers suggested adding some chicken broth in place of some of the water. I didn't have any so I just added some poultry seasoning and ground thyme to my water. I didn't soak my peas at all and put 10 cups of water in the pot with a ham bone. Followed the rest of the recipe as is. It cooked for about 8 hours on high while I was at work and the consistency was perfect! Hubby said it was the best pea soup I've ever made and it was the easiest..My kind of recipe, lol. Note: Peas will continue to thicken over time as they are a starchy veggie so you will have to add quite a bit more liquid to heat up the leftovers (if you have any, lol).

World's Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
Recipe title says it all!!! I went with the 1 TBSP of cornstarch but other then that, followed the recipe amounts exactly using lower fat ingredients - evaporated skim milk, half-fat mayo, and 67% fat free Bacel. OMGosh, it is the best!! So creamy and rich. The only addition I made was to add a half pound of crispy, diced bacon,(lol, my will is weak when it comes to bacon) I had extra dressing made over but found it makes the best dip for chicken fingers and tastes great on fish instead of tartar sauce. My picky kids loved it and everyone wants the recipe. Thanks for posting it.

Old Fashioned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
OMGosh!!This is the best potato salad ever! I even made it with lower fat ingredients; Evaporated skim milk, half fat mayo, 67% fat-free Bacel, and it was still so rich and creamy, didn't affect the texture at all. Then I contradicted all those healthy ingredients by adding half a pound of cooked and diced bacon, lol, but oh so yummy. My picky kids who don't like potato salad had seconds! I ended up with lots of extra dressing but it is the best dip for chicken fingers you ever tried. Great on fried fish instead of tartar sauce too. This is a keeper. Everyone wants the recipe for this one. Thank-you so much for posting it.

Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2006
Oh my goodness!!! I've finally found it; the perfect corndog recipe. This takes me back to the county fair and the batter is nice and thick and sticks well(as long as you make sure the dogs are good and dry first). This is definately a keeper, the kids are insisting I make it again tonight and they don't have to twist my arm.

Scrumptious Beef and Potato Casserole

Reviewed: May 25, 2006
My husband says I'm never allowed to make this again.....unless I make 2 pans!!! I followed recipe exactly other then adding garlic. I also used cornflakes for the topping. I ground them very fine and the texture was great, almost like a bread crumb topping but better flavor. This was absolutely wonderful, whole family loved it.

Sue's Two-Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2006
best cookies ever!..that was my kids, and I've made lots of good cookies!! I changed things a bit according to the ingredients I had on hand..I used 1/2 cup of shortening and 1/2 cup of marj, I used butterscoth chips instead of the white chocolate chips and I threw in 1/2 cup of walnuts and 1 cup of rice krispies. The result was out of this world!! The basic dough recipe is perfect...exactly the right amount of crunch and chewyness.

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2005
wasn't sure what ranch style beans were so used kidney beans the first time I made it, adults liked it, kids not so much: the next time I used refried beans, everyone LOVED it. I have made this about 6 times in the last few months since I first tried it. I do add taco seasoning to it as well and the last time I made it, I spread salsa over the top after it was baked..OH MY GOSH, heaven in a pan.Wonderful served with sour cream.Thank you, thank-you

Kitty Litter Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2005
what a wonderful joke, delicious too!!I've made this twice now.I bought the smallest cat box I could find, and the first time, it barely covered the bottom. The second time I made up 2 vanilla cake mixes and one chocolate and it filled the pan alot better. Also, the second time, I added the pudding before it set and it was alot easier to mix.It was a big hit both times however, got lots of laughs.I would love to meet the twisted mind who first thought it up...genius.

Oh, my gosh, I think I died and went to heaven!absolutely scrumptious! I didn't have dates or raisins on hand so substituted 2c. rainbow mini chips and walnuts for the pecans but this is now my all time favorite recipe.love the fact it uses oil instead of butter or marg., makes it really easy to cream.
