Rosemary Braised Lamb Shanks

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
First time I've made lamb shanks. This will be my new recipe to impress! Wonderful! I don't drink so I used half cooking wine and half cranberry-grape juice and it was AMAZING. It added a little bit of tart sweetness that really gave it depth. I also made roast garlic mashed red potatoes and baked beets with carmelized onions and feta. I'm feeling pretty darn proud of meself! Thanks for the recipe!

Beef Brisket with Mushrooms and Pearl Onions

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2011
So good! I, too, didn't use the taragon or pearl onions. Threw the brisket in the oven with the sauce and foiled it up and ran some errands. Came home to the best smell. Brisket was so tender and the sauce is great. It was even better as leftovers when I reduced the sauce and poured it over the mashed potatoes. Yum. My favorite part is telling people what is in it! So weird! I'm trying it now on country pork ribs.

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
My family loved this. Especially my 6 yr. old. He has asked for leftovers (of which there was none) for two days breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Thanks!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2010
Amazing! I've tried so many banana bread recipes and this is, by far, the best ever. Followed the recipe exactly, except 1/2 whole wheat flour and used 2 large bananas. Seems to be pretty forgiving of changes. Also used half the butter, b/c I ran out. Used a splash of oil and a little apple sauce. Guess I didn't follow recipe exactly, but used what I had and it was still wonderful. A true test of a recipe!

Shredded Beef Enchiladas

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2007
I shredded some left over pot roast for this, but used the rest of the recipe. I added sauteed red bell pepper and canned red sauce. Very good.

Wonderful. The gravy was a really nice touch. This was my best roast chicken ever.

Oven Stew with Burgundy Wine

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2007
I loved this stew! The only reason I gave it 4 stars was that it was pretty salty and I love salt. That may have been because I used cooking wine. Thanks, though, this is a keeper.

Beef Stroganoff with Noodles

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2007
OMG! This is so good. I always go by the comments. The comments are what makes this site better than any cookbook. I didn't use any salt, went easy on the bacon and celery, doubled the cornstarch, halved the worcestrieiuilsue(sp?), and used fresh mushrooms. The best ever! Plenty of flavor with no extra salt and I'm a salt-a-holic.

Raw Veggie Picnic Salad

I kept hearing people exclaim, at the potluck, "Who made this salad?!" Very happy with results and was able to turn some new people onto this site. Thanks!

Zucchini Saute

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2005
My neighbor, who has a huge garden, brought me some fresh zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and a green bell pepper today and lo and behold, there was this recipe. I love that it includes a grain to round it out and everyone loved it. My husband kept saying how great it was and even my 20 mo. old liked it. Thank you! I forgot to peel half of the zucchini and didn't think it made much of a difference and next time I'll use five minute rice as my rice took too long, but otherwise yum.

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2005
I love these and I don't usually like peanut butter or oatmeal cookies. Perfect crumbly crunch. I added some chocolate chips, too. I especially love that it uses whole wheat flour.

Fruity Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2005
These are pretty good. My 5 yr.old was able to help make them and he seems to like them, and that was what I was going for. The only thing that I would change is to use less wheat germ next time. They taste very "germy" to me. I also added some flax seed along with the sesame seeds, which were toasted.
