About this Cook
Kind of a bad cook. Sometimes things turn out really well. Mostly not. Am learning. Discovered mise en place and that helps immensely. Tasting helps too. lol
My favorite things to cook
I like anything with tomatoes, cucumbers and grilled eggplant. I made a great salad, guacamole and salsa. It's the adding heat part I tend to have issues with.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Japanese food and soul food. Mom is Japanese from Japan. Dad is from Florida. We eat pretty well here.
My cooking triumphs
I rock Japanese food. My pasta pomodoro is pretty good. Crockpot stews, salads. I do cheesecakes without a recipe. Made cheesecake centered chocolate cupcakes which were excellent. Ooh, somehow I manage to make a good gravy.
My cooking tragedies
Dinner every night? I've started making dinner the nights I'm not in class. My parents are troopers--they've sat through some seriously vile meals.

Mexican Posole Stew
Hubs and I love this recipe! I haven't made it with the chicarones and feet yet though. So good and savory!

Great recipe. Had unexpected dinner guest and a leftover crab so made this. Everyone loved it and it was easy to make. Added a pinch more spices. Didn't have cod so used salmon. Decreased amount of mussels and shrimp and added octopus and clams.

Flavor was really good. I did have to add a lot more milk/cream to it and the crust absorbed most of the gravy. I would make it again but use way more cream and milk.
