Baked Ziti IV

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2014
Great basic baked ziti recipe to use if you don't have ricotta cheese. (I do prefer ricotta cheese in it) You can substitute many of the ingredients. I used penne instead of ziti pasta, didn't have cottage cheese so I doubled the sour cream and only used ground beef since I didn't have pork. As others recommended, I added some chopped red pepper, a little red wine and some honey to the meat mixture. I only used mozzarella and parmesan cheese since I didn't have the provolone. Baked as stated (spray dish first with pam spray) My husband loved it...and he is a pasta lover. Great recipe!

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2014
Wonderful recipe! Made it for lunch and added a few items, as other suggested. A few slices of chopped green and red peppers, diced onion, garlic, pepper, and I substituted the soup for condensed mushroom soup. I also broiled for the last minute or two to make the cheese crispy and brown. Incredible!!

Meatballs and Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2013
After reading reviews, I realized this is a great recipe with lots of possibilities. I didn't measure, but put all the ingredients in the slow cooker and cooked on high for 4 hours. I used a package of turkey meatballs, left over sour cream, 2 cans of mushroom soup, milk instead of water (filled each soup can by measuring) added a dash of Worcestershire sauce, added lots of onion power, garlic powder, some salt and a good amount of black pepper. I didn't have egg noodles so I used pasta shells. My family said this is a new dish they want me to keep making. So easy and simple to toss ingredients in and cook in slow cooker. This is a keeper!

I followed other recommendations. Sauteed onions in butter till onions were soft then mixed it into soup. Add green beans for more flavor and substance. Added extra cheddar and colby cheese. Didn't have ham so I added bacon at the end. Very good!!!

Anna's Amazing Easy Pleasy Meatballs over Buttered Noodles

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2012
My family loved this! I used half package dry onion mix and a can of mushroom soup with milk instead of celery and French onion. My family likes sauce so I wanted to make extra sauce by adding some boiled milk and flour (thick and creamy) to the recipe. I also added a reviewers suggestion to add some (1/4 can) beef broth for added flavor. I followed the rest of the recipe. I served it with peas and noodles on the side. Fantastic together! Will keep as a regular for us!!

Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2012
My husband loved this soup! I did follow suggestions and doubled the ham and added milk instead of water. I also added more of the seasonings to give it a bolder flavor. (I used minced garlic instead of powder.) To add some veggies to the dish I added french style green beans near the end. (so they wouldn't over cook) I added extra milk to create a great creamy soup dish!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2012
I cut back slightly on the butter and used an olive oil butter stick and used egg beater replacement for the eggs. I baked for approx. 55-60 minutes since I used an 8x8 pan. Fabulous! The calories are for holidays and special occasions only! :)

New Orleans Corn Bisque with Smoked Sausage

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2012
After creating the sauce as the directions state, I put it all in the slow cooker (on High) for 4 hours. I also added a little garlic as others suggested. At the end, I wanted to add some vegetables so I added a few green beans to the mix. Before serving, I added cheddar cheese and hand mixed in. You can't go wrong! We loved it and plan to add it to our slow cooker recipes!

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
I followed the directions (although I did use a combination of brown and white sugar) and my family loved it! My husband did suggest less of the "cake." Next time I will follow the advice of others and add vanilla and cut back on the flour. Also, don't cut back on the topping or the blueberries....they are the best!!

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2011
I add everything in crockpot on high for 3 hour and didn't really measure any of the ingredients. I added adobo, sazon and sofrito to help kick up the spanish flavors. As other reviewers, I added a can of chicken broth and skipped on the water. I topped each bowl with smashed tortilla chips, (instead of the tortilla directions) Mexican cheese and sour cream. My husband raved!!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
I followed the advice of others adding some onion, green pepper, chicken broth, salt and pepper along with the recipe's ingredients. An hour before it's finished cooking, shred the chicken with a fork (going with the grain) and pop back in slow cooker. I served mine with ciabatta rolls and some veggies. Yummy!!

Strawberry Coffee Cake

Wonderful! I followed advice of others and used brown sugar for topping. I also doubled the strawberries and cut them into thick pieces, as recommended. I also added 1/4 cup of oatmeal to make the topping really crunchy. My family loved the topping and said they wanted me to make this again!

Apple Maple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
Good stuff. I used less sugar and sugar free syrup so it wouldn't be so sweet. I also tried it with the skin on since it is much healthier but it makes it way to chewy. Not sure what I will do next time...but it was good!

Heavenly Potatoes and Ham

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
I reduced the portions, and used what I had in the house. And it works! I used yukon potatoes, fat free sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, ricotta cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped ham, salt and pepper and topped with Italian flavored breadcrumbs w/ a few small pats of butter. I loved this because the ingredients and portions are very flexible and it tastes great! When my husband likes it, I know this is a keeper. Thanks!

Chicken Cordon Bleu I

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
I followed the other recommendations. Adding an egg before the breadcrumbs, then topping with a slice of butter. I also made the sauce others recommended. Overall this is delicious! My only thought is that next time I make this I want to add a little more swiss cheese and ham. I served this over brown rice with fresh green beans on the side. My husband enjoyed the meal and really liked the sauce!
