Spaghetti Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2012
We loved this casserole! It was easy to make with ingredients that one usually has on hand. Great way to use leftover chicken. I served it with a salad and a crusty roll.

Pesto Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
You can triple the amount of basil called for here. Then the amount of the rest of the ingredients is about right. I used toasted almonds instead of the nuts called for here. This pesto is very tasty and can be used in so many ways. I like to keep it on hand in the freezer. It is so much better than store-bought!

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
This definitely has a nice spreading consistencey and half a recipe makes plenty. But, it didn't look real chocolatety and I wasn't real fond of the taste. It reminded me of the sugary frostings that you get on a boughten bakery cake, and it certainly didn't look like the frosting pictured on the cake here. I probably won't make this again. I have better tasting chocolate frosting recipes.

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
I was disappointed in this recipe and will not make it again. I didn't like the texture and it fell apart. I much prefer other chocolate cake recipes that use squares of chocolate and buttermilk in them.

Chocolate Eclair Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
This was very easy to make, but I was not impressed. I even used homemade fudge sauce as the topping. I guess we just find mushy graham crackers very unappealing. Sorry, won't be making this again.

Caraway Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
This was good. I put an extra teaspoon of caraway inside the cheese ball, but thougt rolling it in more caraway would be too intense so instead I rolled it in chopped nuts and parsley. Good flavor and very easy to put together.

Peach Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
A wonderful recipe! I added about a fourth of a cup of light olive oil to the dressing, but made everything else exactly as the recipe states. I served this to guests on a hot summer night and everyone thought it was very good and very refreshing. The combination of all these flavors is unexpectedly nice. I'll be making this again.

Best Cherry Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2010
This was a very good recipe to use our fresh cherries with from our one tree. We were able to get them this year before the birds. A great pie to celebrate the 4th of July with! I did add about a fourth of a cup more sugar and it was just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. Wonderful with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Rhubarb Dream Bars

Reviewed: May 14, 2010
Very goood rhubarb dessert, especially topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! A half cup less sugar and a half cup more rhubarb was all I did diffrently; otherwise, followed recipe exactly. The only thing: my husband is not a rhubarb lover, so the next time I make this, I will cut the recipe in half. For now, I'll invite the neighbors over for coffee and dessert. They'll love it!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
How easy this is! In a small bowl, to the dry onion soup mix, I also added 1 tsp. of poultry seasoning, 1 tsp. of thyme, and 2 tsp. of paprika. After putting some butter on the turkey breast, I covered it with this soup-spice mixture and followed the recipe as stated. Moist and wonderful tasting!

Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
These bars were very good. I served them to guests for dessert topped with a raspberry sauce. These are nice to make when you get a cheesecake craving and don't want to make an entire huge cheesecake. I did double the filling for these; however, the next time I make them, I will use a traditional graham cracker crust. Even though I was careful with putting this crust in the pan, after baking, the crust made the bars too hard to cut decently.

Chop Suey

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
We really loved this! I used leftover pork loin roast diced up and I did as others suggested and used 2 Tblsp. of canola oil to saute the onion and celery, along with some minced garlic and sliced baby bella mushrooms. I also used a can of fancy chinese vegetables instead of just bean sprouts and some extra water chestnuts. In the cornstarch mixture I used twice as much soy sauce plus 2 Tblsp. of molasses. It was divine and like so many others have said, "just like my mother used to make." What a treat! And, it is quick and easy. Thanks for the basic recipe. It is a definite keeper!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
This cookie recipe did roll out OK; however, this kind of cookie is just way more work than it's worth. I added all the little extras to give them more flavor and to me they're still bland. There are other cookie recipes that are so much better and worth the ingredients, time, and effort. I have over half the batter left and sorry, but I'm going to throw it out.

Caramel Apple Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
This was very easy to make and very, very good. We used it as a dip for apples, but it was equally good as a topping on cake and ice cream. Loved it!

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
I didn't make any changes to this recipe and it is awesome! I would give it more stars if I could. July has been one of the coolest on record here in Wisconsin this summer and this soup was perfect one rainy day. Believe me, this is high-end restaurant quality!

Angel Hair Pasta with Lemon and Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
This is a good base recipe, but I also added fresh garlic, fresh mushrooms, onions, lemon zest, and about a half a cup of white wine to the cut up chicken that we had leftover from grilling. All that brought it up to delicious. My husband loved it! We had this tonight along with fresh asparagus and fresh strawberries and cream for dessert. It was a quick meal to prepare and very good.

Poppy Seed Fruit Salad

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
This recipe for fruit salad is wonderful! You don't need to change a thing. But you can also add whatever fruit you have on hand. The dressing makes it and is so easy to put together. Also, the poppy seeds and almonds really do make it special!

Easy Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
This is a very good basic recipe; however, as others have said, it needs some additions. To the ground beef mixture, I also added a can of green chilis, a can of Rotel, 2 tsp. cumin, and a half a package of taco seasoning. Then I followed the rest of the recipe as written. We enjoyed this alot and the leftovers were even better!

Tangy Cucumber and Avocado Salad

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
I'm always looking for different types of salads and this one was great! The flavors of all the ingredients go together so well. Tonight I served it with Spicy Grilled Shrimp from this site and I'm sure I will make it with a lot of meals this summer. I did add grape tomatoes for color and did add a little sweetener so that it wasn't quite so tart. Very unique and enjoyable salad.
