Chicken In Basil Cream

Oh my, was this ever yummy! I fried the chicken in canola oil, used only 2 TBSP butter, which I added when I warmed the cream, and used fat free cream. This cut some of the fat and cholesterol, but the chicken was STILL oh so yummy! I used seasoned bread crumbs and passed on the pimento, since none of my family cares for it. I served with potato panckes, which were GREAT with the cream basil sauce! The fresh basil was sweet and fragrant! Yum! Thank you Emily!

Date Filled Cookies

These were really good. The dough was a little difficult to roll, probably because of the oats. I used rasins instead of dates. I doubled the recipe of both the filling and the dough. I filled the cookies FULL with the raisins, and the ratio of dough to filling was perfect! Maybe others were skimpy with the filling, or maybe dates fill the cookie differently! No matter....these were great....thanks Gordon! Oh...I also added a little cinnamon to my raisin mixture...yum!

Cindy's Tasty Wings

Good, easy recipe, although I used fresh wings, which was alot of work...I wouldn't recommend it if you're in a hurry! I mixed all sauce ingredients in a bowl, then tossed in the wings to coat. Thanks for sharing Cindy!

Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake

Oh my!!! This was so good! Moist and chocolaty! The frosting tasted like a layer of chocolate fudge! Yummy, yummy, yummy! Thanks a bunch for sharing!

Brownie Oat Cookies

I made this recipe into brownies by doubling the recipe and pressing the dough into a 9x13 inch pan. I think it probably helped hold in the miosture of the cookie, but there is definitly a lack of flavor. For a lowfat treat, I guess they will do. Just don't keep trying them over and over again, as I did, waiting for a chocolate fix! It just won't happen!

Iced-Spiced Ginger Bars

My hubby had a craving for a Spanish Bar Cake, so I thought that I would surprise him and make one. This sounded like it could taste close to the ones in the grocery store....and BOY does it! I did, however, add 2 cups of raisins, which I boiled for about 5 minutes and "sqooshed" the water out of. This is a definite keeper! VERY YUMMY!(A warning about the icing though....don't overcook it!) Next time, I will do the icing correctly, and I think I will throw on a few chopped nuts for decoration. Thank you so much!!!

Macaroon Cookie Bars

My hubby is a coconut freak, so I thought I would try this one out. I only had yellow cake mix though, and had to substitute walnuts for the pecans. Still turned out yummy...not quite a 5 star, but that could have been because of the substitutions. Thanks for sharing!

Creamy Banana Bread

No, HOLLYMAMA, you are not alone! I made this bread, and I had enough batter for one large loaf, plus 3 muffins. My bread rose beautifully also, only to shrink. The bread was very moist as stated, but also VERY bland...hardly any banana taste at all, and I used 4 very ripe bananas. Sorry to say...this is not worth the fat and calories either. I will stick to my favorite; Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread, found on this site. Thanks for sharing though Pam :0)

Ukrainian Olha's Varenyky (Perogies)

I am giving 4 stars, since I would give the fillings a 5 and the dough a 3! Both fillings were very tasty, although very fattening! I boiled my potatoes in the skins, then peeled and mashed them. This holds in the flavor, as well as preventing them from being watery,(less work too!). I would give the dough 3 stars, because mine turned out tough, and very difficult to roll out. That may have been my fault though,since for some reason, I had to add more water than called for because it was too dry with the half cup. Oh, a lttle warning...be sure you have the extra time to make these, as they are very time consuming! Overall, a good recipe though.
