Ali's Amazing Bruschetta

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
While this was tasty I would make some changes next time. The bread was very soggy and the flavor was a little lacking but not bad. First, I would brush the bread with olive oil and toast in the oven before putting the tomato mixture on top. Second, add a little salt, a little more garlic.

Vegan Bean Taco Filling

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
We really enjoyed this filling. Easy to make and very good tasting. I only just two teaspoons of cumin but it was still very flavorful. Next tome I might omit or cut back on the paprika as it didn't really add much in our opinion. Thanks for the recipe. Will make again as we are trying to sub beans in recipes that call for ground beef. I bet it would be good as a dip too or on nachos. Thanks!

Shrimpcargot

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
Matt loved these! I too cut up the shrimp because they didn't fit my mushrooms. Also prebaked the shrooms plain for about 10 min. before filling. Can't wait to make them for company.

Bessy's Zesty Grilled Garlic-Herb Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
LOVED this chicken. We did cut the cayenne pepper down to 1/4 tsp. just because we don't like really spicy food. Marinated it about 2 hours. So moist and flavorful. Thanks for the recipe. It's a keeper.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
As far as really bad for you, really tasty appetizers go this is 5 stars! We really liked these. I did cook these a little longer than stated just because we like crispy bacon. Turned them half way through too so they would be crisp all over. Thanks for the recipe. Oh and I've never like 'lil smokies before these. I actually made them for my husband and I ended up eating just as many as he did. Yum.

Bacon Wrapped Brown Sugar Smokies Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
This was pretty good but the mayo was too much for us so we added a little more BBQ sauce. Went really well with the Bacon Wrapped Smokies recipe on this site as promised.

Dressed-Up Broccoli

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
Tasty broccoli. My only problem was that the 6 minutes in the microwave made my broccoli a little soggy and over cooked even before going in the oven. Next time I will probably either just steam for maybe 2 minutes before going into the oven or skip that step as another reviewer suggested. Did omit the bread crumbs(didn't have any on hand) and we didn't miss them. Thanks. Will make again. Tasty and healthy.

Cheese and Chive Crisps

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
These were pretty tasty little snacks. My only complaint is that the first day they seemed to have a bit of a floury texture. The next couple days either they really grew on me or it went away a bit. Hmmm. Not really sure. I did not have trouble slicing the roll at all. However, it did sit in the fridge overnight before I sliced and cooked them. Pretty good and different little crackers. Thanks.

Elegant Orzo with Wilted Spinach and Pine Nuts

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
Oh yum! SO GOOD! Had to omit the pine nuts (allergy in the family). Added a tiny bit of minced shallot. Made ahead and just stirred the vinegar into the whole dish. Added the feta when time to serve. We absolutely loved it. Thanks! Great dish! Oh, and very pretty too.

Spinach and Feta Pita Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
Delicious! I did add a tiny bit of fresh mozzerella but that was it. Will make again and again. We had them with soup. Perfect. Not too hearty. Just right. Thanks for the recipe. We loved it.

Very Special Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
This was really very good and thick spaghetti sauce. However, ours had a bit of a bitter taste. Not sure if the wine I used was old or not the right type (can't remember what it was called. Red and dry. Leftover from a dinner). I think that is what we were tasting. Anyway, I'll definitely make this again b/c even with the bit of bitter taste, it was still very good. I'll just omit the wine or use another type. Thanks.

Cheese Biscuits I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
These were pretty good biscuits. The flavor of the garlic butter mixture didn't really come trough for us though. Might make again but with more garlic powder. Or maybe even add a minced clove of garlic to the batter. I guess we were expecting a stronger flavor. Thanks. All in all they were pretty good.

America's Favorite Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
allrecipes.com caters to all ages. I for one think it's great that they include simple recipes. Kids who are learning to cook come on here and this is a great start for them to use the stove. Obvious to adults, yes. For some kids, no. Plus, the process for them is more fun if they get to print out their own recipe rather than making Mom or Dad's recipe (even if they are the same). I know my niece was very proud to do this yesterday and showed everyone her recipe. Thanks for the recipe AR. Made my niece's day!

Lori's Famous Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
Made these for my husband (I don't eat seafood). I followed the authors suggestions under her *review* and minced the veggies all really fine. Also, she said to use less oil to fry them in which we did. Used fresh crab. Thanks! He LOVED them!

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
SO GOOD! I couldn't stop eating the pecans when they were done. I had to use red onion rather than green but cut it paper thin. The dressing was good but a little too tart for us. I used gorgonzola rather than Roquefort as that is what I had on hand. I will make again but maybe with a little less vinegar. Thanks!

Bill's Blue Cheese Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
Wow! Loved this dressing. At first I was going to change the sour cream and mayo mixture amounts around as a lot of reviews suggested but then decided to go with the amounts as written. We LOVED it! I did make 3 changes though. I used a clove of fresh garlic in place of the powder; switched the dry mustard for Dijon and added a little bit of extra blue cheese. I used just a regular danish blue cheese so it wasn't very strong. Will make a again and again. Thanks!

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
I did not actually try these but made them for others. They really liked them but did think they were a little too sweet. I tasted the sauce and agreed. I had never made ribs before and thought that the prep was a as easy and quick as it comes. Also, the ones that had them did say they were very tender. I will make them again but omit the sugar. Thanks!

Favorite Corn Bread

The flavor was great but the bread was soooo dry. I timed it perfectly and followed the recipe exactly so I'll look around for a more moist one. Thanks though.

Pat's Baked Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
Pretty good but way too sweet for our taste. I will make them again but omit the brown sugar and stay just with the molasses. Also, I think I'll add a little vinegar to give them a little tang. They were a little plain for us. Thanks though. We will use this recipe just with a couple of canges.
