Chicken Souvlaki Gyro Style

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
We really enjoyed this dish. I know it's meant to go on pitas but it was just too much bread for us. Will make again and again but we will sub tortillas for the pitas. I let the chicken marinate for about 6 hours.

Pat's Potato Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
A bit too sweet for us but other wise the flavors were good together. Probably will make again as a base with half the sugar and add some herbs...

Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
Amazing pesto recipe. We absolutely loved it. I only made 10 servings because all I needed was a couple of TBS for the "Pizza Without the Red Sauce" recipe from this site. I wish I had made more to have o n pasta! The only change I made was to use Sun-Dried tomato paste instead of regular paste. I had it in a tube and didn't want to open a can of regular paste for a TBS or so. Still, it came out just great. Thanks so much for the recipe.

Pizza Without the Red Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
This was pretty good. A little heavy on the garlic for us though. Next time I will use a little more pesto and a little less of the garlic butter mixture. The Feta was fantastic on this. We used the "Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto" recipe from this site and loved it. Thanks for the recipe

Black Bean Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
Fantastic. Relaced the diced tomatos with mild salsa. Thought I had tomatoes but nope just sauce in the pantry. Other than that followed the filling ingredients to a T. I did mash half the beans and kept the other half whole per personal prefenence. Will make again and again.

Hearty Ham Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
This is a great recipe. I did not use a crust and added more onion (1/2 an onion), used a Swiss raclette for the cheese. We really liked it a lot.

Italian Subs - Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
Oh My!!! These were fabulous! I had eaten a half of one before even getting to the table to eat. For the tomato, onion mixture, I followed one reviewers advice to "make it more authentic" (don't know if it was or not) to add the pickles chopped up. I did marinade the tomato mixture for a few hours. I did not add the lettuce until 1 hour before serving so that it wouldn't get too soggy. After assembling subs I did throw the bottom half under the broiler quickly to melt the cheese. We are still talking about it the next day. So yummy! Thanks for the recipe!

Vegan Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
These were very good pancakes. I picked the recipe simply because they do not include egg which my son is allergic to. After making the batter I thought it was too thick to actually make "fluffy" pancakes but I was wrong. They came out very fluffy. Also, I thought when making the batter that there was way to much sugar but added it all anyway. I'm glad I did. They were sweet but not everly so. Thanks for a great tasting and simple to make recipe. Will make these often.

Baja Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
This was a great sauce! After letting it rest for 5 hours I tasted it and it seemed a little bland for me. We added 1&1/2 tsp. more of the pureed mixture to the mayo mixture. As well as an extra 1/8th tsp. eash of cumin and garlic powder. We let it sit about 2 more hours and it was great! We served this with Southwestern Eggrolls from this site and they went well together.

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
We loved this recipe. Followed the ingredients in this one (not the cooking method) to a T. Even measured ALL them all. At first, when tasting the filling before rolling I didn't think there was enough flavor but decided to leave it alone. I made them at around noon, put them in the fridge and cooked them around 7pm. After they were cooked the flavor was really enhanced! So good! Not sure if was from resting or just cooking or both but they were just great! We did brush them with oil and baked them instead of frying them. I'm sure they would taste even better fried (as most things tend to do...) but baked is wonderful too. Thanks for the recipe! We served these with Baja sauce from this site.

Rosemary Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
These were very good. However, I had to broil them for a few minutes to get them browned. We enjoyed the flavor and overall recipe though. I did sub a little garlic powder and a sprinkle of salt for the garlic salt as I didn't have any. Will make again but cook at a higher temp.

Granola Bars II

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2009
The flavor of these was good but WAY too sweet. I would make them again because they are so easy but I will cut the sugar in half. Also, they didn't stick together at first. I had to return them to the oven for an additional 10 mintues which did the trick.

Simple Sicilian Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2009
So simple and very good. After we made it we made it and tasted it we decided to add a pressed clove of garlic and that really enhanced this dressing. I would suggest making this a head of time to allow the oregano to soften in the oil and balsamic mixture. Thanks for the recipe

Simple, Classic Chicken Potpie

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2009
SO GOOD! We used fresh carrots and subbed fresh green beans for peas as my son is allergic to peas. We steamed both veggies for a few minutes prior to adding to make sure they would be soft enough when the pie was done. The sauce was a little bland for our liking so I added a cup and a half of cheddar anda clove of garlic. We really liked that this didn't have the cream soup. I can't wait to make it again! We loved it! Thanks for the recipe!

Vegetarian Moussaka

This was OK. Kinda bland. Probably will stick with my Moussaka recipe. It's was a nice change of pace to have it with no meat but there was just something missing.

Authentic Chinese Egg Rolls (from a Chinese person)

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
These were pretty good. The filling was a little bland so before filling them I added a little bit of powdered ginger. That helped a lot. We fried half of them and baked half of them sprayed with PAM. The fried ones were better and had the restaurant-style texture. The baked ones were good too just a little too crispy. However, since we are not big fans of frying food next time we will probably bake them all since they were still pretty good. These freeze well too. We did freeze some that were uncooked and baked them the other night. I would recommend seperating them with parchment or wax paper before freezing otherwise they will stick together. Thanks for the recipe.

Russian Chicken with Feta Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
This chicken has a great sauce! I did add a little more vodka before simmering the sauce as mine was too thick. Also, I doubled the garlic and replaced the dried parsley called for with fresh. We LOVED it!!! Definitely double the sauce if serving over so mething like pasta or rice. Will make again and again! So good! Thanks for the recipe.

Very good! Used Barilla dry lasagna. Added a little fresh parsley to the ricotta as well as a sqeeze of garlic paste. Made it in an 8x8. Very good!
