Herbed Chicken in Pastry

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
This was pretty tasty but a little dry and I used extra cheese spread (Boursin). I altered the direction by cutting the chicken breast in chunks and then mixing with the cheese spread. I will make again using the same method but will marinate the chicken first for mor flavor. Thanks for the recipe.

Parmesan Knots

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
These were good. I used crescent rolls instead of buscuits. I have had a can in my fridge for months not knowing what to do with them. The flavor was good. I did use fresh parsley as I didn't have any dried. That worked fine. Thanks for the recipe.

Steak and Ale Pie with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
We only made the filling for this. We used leftover roast that had been cooked in a slow cooker with beef consume and canned onion soup. We onitted the potatoes but added the rest of the ingredients. Instead of a pastry crust e just the potatoes called for in the recipe to make mashed potatoes. We topped the meat mixture with the mashed potatoes prior to baking. Turned out wonderful. Very flavorful meat mixture indeed. So, we didn't follow the whole recipe so I can't say how that would have been. I just know that meat part was great. Thanks for the recipe. Will use this in the future to do the same thing. Oh, and for the beer we used a vey dark one from a local micro brewery.

Ham and Potatoes Au Gratin

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
We did not care for this recipe. I followed the ingredients to a T. After reading the reviews I decided par-boil the potatoes for 5 minutes. Even then, they were still not cooked after the recomended baking time. Also, it was a fairly bland flavor. I would have thought with the cheddar and the onion it would have more flavor. We tried to eat more of it for lunch today but will not eat the rest. Next time I will just make scalloped potatoes with ham added.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
The flavor of this chicken was just amazing! I agree with others that the sauce was a little runny. Iadded a tiny bit of cornstarch at the end and it was perfect. Also, I only used about a 1/4 tsp. cayenne. Personal preference. We are "heat wimps". Love, Love, Love this! Thanks for the recipe!!!!!

Pork Tenderloin with Creamy Herb Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
While the flavor of the sauce was excellent, for our tastes, it was a little heavy for such a tender, delicate cut of meat. We liked the sauce so much that we have since used it on bonless chicken and the meal was fantastic. Nothing wrong with the recipe just our tastes.. Thanks.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
Very good! We used Honey Brown beer and it really tasted good. Very salty though on it's own but with the roll it was lessened a bit and had great flavor. Thanks for the recipe. Will make again!

Scottish Bubbles and Squeak Patties

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
We loved the flavor of these. Had trouble keping the patties together though. However, that could be out fault becase we madethe mixture earlier in the day and them shaped them cold. It didn't matter though because ecooked it "hash" style and let it get crispy in spots. Thanks for the recipe. We will make it again and next time we will follow the directions and shape the patties while it's still all warm.

Secret Burger Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
We really enoyed this recipe. Added a little extra dill pickle. The contrast between the sweet flavor of the mayo and ketchup with the pickle was excellent! We liked it so much so, that during dinner I got up and put some in a bowl to dip our hamburgers that already had some on them. Thanks so much for the recipe. It's a keeper!

Barbequed Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
I have a phobia of eating meat "on the bone" but I don't have a problem cooking with it. I made these for my husband. He finally got me to have a taste and the flavor was fantastic! He said they were the best ribs he has ever had. When making the sauce part of the recipe, at first all I could smell when it started cooking was worcestershire sauce and though it was going to be too prominent. As the cooking time went on that smell decreased but the vinegar smell was almost overwhelming. I decided to leave it alone and finish cooking the full hour. I'm so glad I did! The flavors melded perfectly into a wonderful sauce! We thank you for a great recipe!

Baby Greens with a Warm Gorgonzola Dressing

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
Sooooo GOOD! I loved this. At first when I tasted the dressing I immediately thought, too sweet. However the gorgonzola catches up quicky making it a wonderful combination of salty, tangy and sweet - PERFECT! Also, the dressing processes up nice and thick and doesn't seperate! As far as the salad part goes, I had to omit the nuts(allergy) but did add a sprinkle of green onions. Thanks for a wonderful recipe!

Cauliflower and Broccoli Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
Hmmm. I love broccoli and cauliflower with cheese. There was something off here though. Not sure if it was the mustard? Maybe it's just me because I've made cheese sauces with dijon before and liked it. Never with "English mustard" though. If I do try it again I'll probably omit the mustard.

Tomato Gorgonzola Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
Fantastic! We you first make it the gorgonzola is nice an adds a subtle, not overpowering taste. After it sits in the fridge the gorgonzola is much more prominent. Fantastic!

Easy Vegetarian Red Beans Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
We found this to be just OK. It was fairly dry and lacked some flavor. If I make it again I might put some cheese in the layers as well as a little more spices. However, it's a healthy alternative to traditional lasagna.

Chewy Red Raspberry Squares

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
These were pretty good. A bit too sweet though. I decreased the b. sugar to 3/4 cups and still too sweet. Maybe add a pinch of salt? All in all though we liked them.

Teena's Spicy Pesto Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
This was fantastic! I subbed angel hair pasta for the bowties. Also, I marinated my chicken breast whole and cooked them in the oven then sliced instead of cutting it up and cooking on the stove. Will make again and again.

Meatball Sandwich

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
These were a little bland for us. After mixting it up I fried up a little bit to test for seasoning. We thought it needed more flavor so we added a little more garlic, parsley and parm. Also used about a 1/2 of an onion minced. As well as a little oregano. So, good but we like a alot of flavor.
